Is it down to 2 on every night of the week? And what of the poker players lined up? I am particularly looking forward to the 18th (and no it is not me! ;)) Title: Re: Sky poker tonight Post by: Bainn on June 05, 2007, 01:13:12 AM nope they cut to two guests a nite and gonna b mainly celebs. ? ? ? A number of poker player guests, including blondes have already been booked for June & July, though I don't have the list to hand. The show is evolving, as it builds up a portfolio of shows which will grow into a full blown poker channel. Poker Week has already been added, & more shows & initiatives are in the pipeline, & Sky Poker will be going out to Live Venues quite soon, plans are well advanced, & they've been working hard on these things. Title: Re: Sky poker tonight Post by: Claw75 on June 08, 2007, 06:59:52 PM Just got an email about the 1st live event - looks pretty good. Shame I won't be able to make it as I'll be playing another event that day. Will deffo play in the future if there are any more.
Just one thing - even if I was free on that date 2 weeks notice is a bit short when travel/accommodation arrangements need to be made - any chance of getting a bit more notice for the next one? Title: Re: Sky poker tonight Post by: Graham C on June 08, 2007, 07:41:18 PM Is the live event for you tv celeb types only? I didn't get an email :(

Sorry about the short notice claire. For "technical reasons" this event has been put together quite quickly. There will be others, don't worry, & I'm sure, as a very regular Sky Poker player, you'll be invited. I am not clear on the selection criteria for an invite, but I imagine priority is being given to those that play on Sky Poker regularly, as a "thank you" gesture, & so the Tourney will be a £2,500 added Freeroll. Numbers will be limited to 100. This one, hoped to be the first of a series, will be at The Broadway, Birmingham, on June 23. Sky Poker will have a Camera Crew there, & Poker Week will also be covering it. I had a Meeting with The Broadway last week, & we have further meeting with them this Monday to tie up the bits & pieces - buffet, Interview Areas, da de da de da. Norman Pace & Ed Giddens will both be playing the Event, also playing SNG's etc. I'm not sure yet if I will have time to play the Event, but I shall be there, making the tea, & geneally fiffing & faffing. For anyone wanting to stay at the Marriott where a lot of us stayed for BB1 I found this offer: http://www.marriott.co.uk/Channels/marriott.mi?page=UK_StayforBreakfastInternational&vedate=may07&vetype=ruk&veseg=mr&veof=sfb-o This only works if you use your Visa card and is money off a future stay. Just to pick up a couple of points: we decided to go down to two guests as it's easier to theme the nights (e.g. two Chelsea players, two soap actors, etc.). It also means we spend less time concentrating on the studio guests and move the focus to the home player. There will still be room for the poker players at all levels to appear across the weekends and on 'player nights', when we can team two of you up together. Anyone who wants to come on the show is still very welcome and should let Tikay or me know. Regarding the first live tournament - it is first come first served, as far as I am aware, and obviously aimed at those of you who have helped give us such a good start by playing regularly or appearing on the show. There will only be a small representative team from Sky Poker there doing some filming, so most seats will definitiely go to players. We needed to set this one up fairly quickly (and a big thank you goes to Obi Wan Tikaynobi) and it is 'experimental'. We will be hoping to film a lot of the players as we want to give more profile to home players on the TV show. As I think Tikay has said, we will hope to do this regularly and to take it around the country so that we can meet as many players as possible. There'll also be a series of Sky Poker roadshows happening and, eventually, some bigger tournaments. Best wishes, Vic from Miami Light cloud, cool breeze. 76 degrees. Title: Re: Sky poker tonight Post by: amcgrath1uk on June 13, 2007, 11:13:57 AM Received my invite...Alas work commitments mean I can't attend which is bloody annoying
As for my Sunday night spot prize... one of the weirdest tournies I've played in down to 4k, on 500/1k blinds, pushed with A 4 called by a shorter stack with Q2 hit his Q down to 235 next hand all in with 5 2 hit my straight up to 705 ( on the river) all in next hand with A 8 hit 2 pair on the river up to 2010 last hand before the break, all in with p 4s holding up against 2 A+high kickers and up to 7230 climb up to 10k somehow through a few all ins not being called and my going out hand, pushed with A 10 suited on the button, called by p9s and no help Thoroughly enjoyed it, and many thanks to Sky ( in particular Carlo for his spot prize) for a fully enjoyable night Title: Re: Sky poker tonight Post by: Graham C on June 13, 2007, 03:01:56 PM I got in too :D
Space reserved for me! Does the Broadway have car parking? Was thinking of driving home afterwards as I'm in London the next day for the 20/20 cricket. Title: Re: Sky poker tonight Post by: tikay on June 13, 2007, 03:15:56 PM I got in too :D Space reserved for me! Does the Broadway have car parking? Was thinking of driving home afterwards as I'm in London the next day for the 20/20 cricket. It has a huge UnderGround Car Park directly beneath the Casino, & it's CCTV controlled. It's free, too, simply get The Broadway Casino Reception Desk to validate your Parking Ticket. If you don't have "Tom-Tom" or similar, the Broadway's website has directions, but it's on the Ring Road, opposite Tescos, just off Fiveways Island, & the Car Park is clearly signposted. For us mere mortals who havent yet developed a large bank roll what sort of level will the sit n gos be? If they are a manageable amount I would love to stay longer and crash at the hotel at some ungodly hour. Must make sure I am back down South in time for Sundays Open to use the spot prize giddens gave me for winning with a pair of fours! (OK so a 300 raise on 30 bb was a tad excessive!) Still need to get a decent win after blowing up big style in the £50k primo. I look forward to introducing myself to Tikay this time so that he stops getting me confused with some bloke called Dave he met in Dublin! On a general note, are there any plans to get more of a community going by introducing a forum to the website? If you want £5, or £10, £20, then that's fine. Norman, Ed & myself will be on full-time SNG & cash-game duties - Heads-Up, too if you want - as soon as the Tourney is over, & we've structured it to finish late Evening, to give folks time to get home if they so wish. Forum? Yes, Sky are working on that already. There is a heap of stuff being Uploaded already, go to the "BLOG" tab on their Website & have a nosey around. The whole thing is about Community building, hence lots more Sky Days, & the Sky Roadshow will be rolling soon. They are building a Channel, not just a Show. I had a poke around on the blog the other day when it was mentioned, I noticed the tab disapeared yesterday so i am assuming somehting is being added to it again. Tikays and Normans constant references to Blonde introduced me to this site and having read the threads daily I feel like such a fish seeing the amounts alot of Blondites are winning in MTT's. One day Goat, one day!! Title: Re: Sky poker tonight Post by: tikay on June 13, 2007, 04:39:55 PM Had my acceptance confirmed and will be there for sure. Not sure yet whether or not to stay the night in the hotel. On a general note, are there any plans to get more of a community going by introducing a forum to the website? grrrr so it was you that beat me to that ... mine was a 3 way all in both vs A with high rags oh well... well done... suppose 2 in 2 nights might have been a touch fortunate Oopsy sorry about that one! I already had the email window open to send to them just incase 44 came my way! The Broadway SNG's on "Sky Day" will be whatever you & the guys comfy with. Look forward to meeting you Things appear to be moving forward nicely. Glad to see you took my advice (as if it wasn't already in the pipeline!) from an email I sent in months ago and started Winners night getting some regular players onto the show.
