Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on June 06, 2007, 08:31:56 PM sigh...you know the rules starting chips blind levels clock thank you lol brilliant Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: madasahatstand on June 06, 2007, 08:34:59 PM I went to Glastonbury in 1999 to work as part of the medical team. i had the luxury of being in the staff compound which had a shower block and real toilets. in the morning the mess tent had free tea, coffee, toast and cereal:) great!!!!! the only problem was the mile walk back from the stages. no way i could have used those container toilets. it makes me feel ill even now thinking about them :tikay: one night when i was inebriated, i tried to use the toilets and ended up having to make the mile walk....lool
i saw Mogwai who were totally amazing. REM were superb as was Al Green. Underworld got the crowd going and rocked!! ive often thought of going back because it was a great 4 or 5 days but i dont think id go unless i was with the medical team:) just couldnt stand the toilets.......lol enjoy it if you go and watch out for the guy selling special chocolate cakes for £!. they really are special......... :o Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: action man on June 06, 2007, 08:36:13 PM we always go to lowlands, which is the glasbonbury equivelent just outside amsterdam check it out www.lowlands.nl
Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: Nakor on June 06, 2007, 08:56:17 PM No tent, no sleeping bag, no friends - not sure want to go .... But if i make it, does anyone fancy small sng of suck out city game somewhere in the fields? Honestly a tent is not a necessity at Glasto - makes for an interesting time. Christian Aid, Krishna, Welfare, Reggae Street and numerous other places you can get your head down. I would suggest a sleeping bag though. Friends everywhere at Glasto, it is an experience you should not miss. PM me if you want info or convincing some more. Lost Vagueness offers some poker action late night around the casino especially the Wednesday and Thursday if memory serves. And two years ago cards and chips were in abundance so I am sure this year SnG action will be easy to find. And as for Lowlands - the closest thing to Glasto I have found I have to say - a brilliant festival, not glasto but brilliant. Was lucky enough to see some great performances, and thats one big tent they have. Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: Karabiner on June 06, 2007, 09:05:00 PM No tent, no sleeping bag, no friends - not sure want to go .... But if i make it, does anyone fancy small sng of suck out city game somewhere in the fields? They have those camping-pod thingys which are cabins with beds and electricity at most festivals these days, google it ! I used to go every year twenty years ago when my good friend John Martin was a standing dish. Those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end, but alas ........ Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: ACE2M on June 06, 2007, 10:24:33 PM i and about 13 friends and relatives have our tickets.
in all seriousness we have so many spare spots in our tents as we like to live in the luxury that many consecutive years attendance teaches you is a good thing. If you need a bed for the night we can definately accomadate. I've done the turn up and blag the whole thing and had a great time so don't worry aout not having anything sorted, probably my best glastos have been crazy affairs but i'm older now and need my peace. Hope you get your ticket, you are guaranteed a great time. Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: The_nun on June 06, 2007, 10:34:40 PM Tantrum...jump on this one girl....Ace with spare room in his tent.. how cano one resist...
Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: redimp on June 06, 2007, 11:11:55 PM Glastonbury, been twice with Pete when we were younger, one year real bad rain, the next baking hot.
Both times were fantastic. May take the girls when they are a little older. Take as little as possable with you,as the theft from your tent is rife!! Hope you get a ticket, and have a great time. Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: Claw75 on June 06, 2007, 11:45:35 PM No, but I really wish I was :(
I hope you get to go - I'm sure you'll have a great time! (Maureen is spot on too!) Title: Re: glastonbury festival Post by: AndrewT on June 07, 2007, 12:01:07 AM Take as little as possable with you,as the theft from your tent is rife!! The theft is nowhere near as bad as it was now they've stopped the freeloaders from getting in.
