Title: AJ questions
Post by: Graham C on June 08, 2007, 12:04:31 AM
$4k on blonde ($5 mtt).  It's been going for over 3 hours and you are on about 96k, 3rd out of 35ish.  You are on the bb (3000/6000) and short stack pushes first in from mid position for 27k - should you call?

In sb several hands later towards the end of the current 3000/6000 level with same hand.  Folds to cut off who min raises to 12k.  He's got me just covered but he's done this a lot, sometimes he's been called and had nothing, sometimes he's been called and had a hand.  What do you do?  Call, push or fold?

Clearly I callled and lost both pots but I ask because watching other play durning tourneys, AJ would be considered damn good hand by most to be calling all in's with, but the thing is I'm aware of the fact that it's not. That and the gap concept would suggest I fold, however with the high blinds I get sucked in and I'd like to know if it's just unlucky that I ran into better hands or folding is standard.

I should have folded shouldn't I?

I call the first one.

The 2nd 1 is an easy re-raise all in.

Well I am doing something right then.  First one I called and he had pocket 7's but caught trips on the turn, second one I pushed all in,  he thought about it for a while but called with AK and it held up.

Cheers Flushy, nice to know I did the right thing here.

So bad, the 2nd 1 is more of a shove than the first 1 is a call!

LOL. Its the min raise that bothers me. Obv if its a standard raise i insta-re-raise. Just screams i want action from a stealing position.

Even thought what level thinking the guy is on?

Against good players in a good comp, i agree. In the world of low stakes mediocrity, i fold.

I mean I'd rather not face a raise and be shoving my chips in knowing that nobody else other than the blinds had nay interest in the pot.
