Title: WSOP entry
Post by: maxward on June 08, 2007, 10:40:36 AM
Is anyone else having problems buying in from over here??  The whole system so far has just been a spectacular farce for me.

>Pokerstars sent me the money and said I had to register myself, a result of the US registration. I can live with that had this not taken 4 months to get too!
>They send me a USD cheque which will take 4 weeks to clear, thanks Pokerstars!!
>I register on-line with WSOP, in order to get cheaper hotel rates I apply on-line rather than buying in on arrival.
>The confirmation email that gives me a form to print and fax back confirming my application was screwed up, didn't work at all.
>No email back/contact for WSOP, only contact is a US toll number, more expense!!
>Have called no less than 6 times, each time they say they will send out a fresh form, have yet to receive it!!!
>Without the form I cannot pre-reg and if I don't my hotel price increases by 60%!
>Finally, after 5 weeks, I manage to obtain a form from someone else in the US who applied, they send me theres I remove the detail and insert my own.
>I pay over my money and fax across my form, specifically asking for them to faxback confirmation of receipt - one week later and NOTHING

The whole process is an absolute joke and so far removed from anywhere near what I should receive given I had my seat won in Dec 06.
Added to all this the flight allowance doesn't cover my fare and my hotel allownace will only be received once I land in Vegas, but that will have to be paid by chq (again taking 4 weeks to clear my bank).  I am so annoyed, I cant be the only one, the whole system is gearred for the US nationals and there is no access to or accountability from those who organise the event.

At this point I have 7 days left to confirm my pre-reg and despite sending across the info am none the wiser as to where I stand!!

That sounds pretty crap Max.  Have you had a word with Des to have a word with someone at Stars for you.  Someone should be able to help you get this all sorted.

Best of luck with all that, and good luck for the poker - enjoy it!

;goodluck;

I contacted Stars two weeks ago, they simply came back and said nothing to do with us your on your own.  If I dont like it I can keep the money and not go!

Which to be honest is possibly about the crappest thing they could have said, made no effort to help and being largely responsible for the delay in the first place have just aboslved themselves of responsibility.  Its good they are in the US or I would go round and kick some lumps out of people because the service so far from both Stars and Haraahs has been an absolute disgrace.

I actually considered not going its been that bad, that said my money has gone now so I dont have a choice!!

Pokerstars' head honchos are on the Isle of Man.

the hotel rates you get will be adjusted downwards upon showing a main event reciept when you check in or pay your bill.

Hi Max,

Hope you are well.

Have you contacted APAT about this? If not, I suggest you do - that's the best route.

Good Luck, see you there!

You need to get through to the right person there - and then they'll sort you out.  Speak to Des ASAP, and he'll get the people who'll do something about it onto the case.

I studied the master at work and emulated his style (or lack of as the case may be).

you will have to define clack & twaddle, but so far can't find anything to argue with so far.

OED - pish, clack & twaddle - dialect as spoken by Scots & wannabe poker players.

I'm not a wannabe - not even reached that level yet.  Certainly not Scottish either.

What's your excuse?

I make a living out of pish, clack & twaddle. A really neat trick, that. 9pm tonight, Channel 846, for living proof.

New epitaph for Tikay:

Took pish, clack & twaddle and turned it into an art.  Then turned it into a career.  Then turned it in.

i have heard many a scot use the fine word 'pish'. however i have never heard the use of the words 'clack' or 'twaddle' on this the good side of the border.

i would be very much interested in the outcome if this language was used in my local, very interested indeed.

It's the language of the Bro's on the street, it's like reverse schmizzle.
