Any Blondes reccomend any decent hotels in Newcastle?

Looking for something fairly cheap for a few nights as close to City as possible.

I've booked myself a room at Jury's for a forthcoming stay.   Never been to Newcastle before, but I understand the hotel is well located.  Usually £100+ per room, but £65 per room (with one occupant) or £37.50 each if two sharing if booked through Superbreak.com

I went to Newc to play a poker tourny.... came back and told Stacey to get her butt up there...the street's are packed on a weekend with revelers if that's what floats your boat..going out is not for me but i loved the place, great atmosphere, everyone seemed to be having a ball.

The copthorne is gorgeous, very pricey but its right on the river and has a stunning view. very close to town aswell!

yeh that was my budget option hotel but took the missus in the end so had to up the standard a bit!

We stayed in a travel lodge, close to the river and short taxi ride to the casino...THINK it was about 40ish for 2, full of hen/stag does but this was fine as i played until early hours so by the time i went to bed they were too, then got up to go back to casino for day 2 and never heard a thing.

the royal station hotel is great not far from the town and basically on the platform of the railways station

Ahh, the copthorne. Spent many a night there. Working on the bar of course.

Travel Lodge and Premier travel inn for close to city centre and knowing what your going to get. It all depends what you want to be close to. You can't really end up being out of walking distance or close to a metro stop.

For a budget weekend on the toon, the Premier Travel Inns at the edge of The Quayside are spot on.

Malmaison is cool if you have the dough (or a company account!)

I stayed at The Royal Station a few weeks ago for a couple of days, which is 5 minutes walk from town centre.

After I changed my original room from one overlooking the railway tracks to a corner room on the town side it was great.

£66 per night.

The Rooms overlooking the Railway track are, I assume, Premium Rooms.

I always use the Copthorne if I am in funds, or someone else is paying.

Jen & I stayed in the Copthorne one night, I can't remember why we were in Newcy.

Next morning, we were having a pot of tea & a ciggie in that lovely lounge overlooking the Canal. At the next table, surrounded by an entourage of gawpers, was a smart-suited elderly gentleman, holding court before the afternoon Newcastle v Man Utd game.

I tapped Jen on the arm, & whispered to her - "quick, look Jen, that's Bobby Robson - SIR Bobby Robson".

"Who?" said her Godness.

i lived in newcastle for ages, the mal maison is the bees nees but very expensive... but were all elite poker players so that shouldnt be an issue really :P there are a few decent ones on osbourne road and lots of students and amazing drinking spots!!! there are a load at kingston park one of which is called the formula one which also comes with complimentary prostitues :) lots of fun to be had by all in newcastle hope you have a good trip

I'm going down for the football, so cheap and cheerful will do for me just somewhere to call home for a few days.

You may as well go for the "complimentary prostitutes" then  ::)

About £20 (may be £25) a night B & B. About 20min walk to Aspers, 10-15 min walk to St James' Park. Cheap & cheerful. Not sure how serious they were but someone said Fenham was a bit rough (didn't see any evidence of it) so a taxi back might be advisable.

check to see if there is any poker on for those days bandit, probably be too pissed to play but stopped me b4
