If you were given $100'000 to have a bet but had to chose the format before doing so, which sporting format do you feel is least affected by outside influence?

The best i could come up with was darts; no ref, no ambiguity over the rules and if both guys are triers the best man on the day should win.

these are a couple that i quickly discounted:

boxing-  premature stopages coupled with regular dodgy points decisions mean i would never have a lumpy boxing bet.

football- of course you need officiators but too often now the wrong decisions are being made that impact upon the game, penalty decisions, dissallowed goals and offside calls. over the course of a season these even out and the better teams assert themselfs in the league but in one game the influence of the referee is too heavy(and fallible) for me to trust the format of football for a lumpy bet

 
for a lumpy sum if you had to chose the format before the actual bet what would you go with?

horse racing every single time. Yes the horse can not run to it's true form and the jockey can give it a shitty ride or others can interfere but in the top class races I reckon it's one of the safest ways of betting (if you know your stuff which I don't)

Darts isn't a sure thing either.  When I went to Reading, Barney was playing Colin Lloyd and was massive odds on at the bookies to win.  Only a few people knew Barney was suffering from a cold and was never likely to put up that much of a game and he lost 6-8.

the whole point about gabling is that there is no such thing as a 100% good thing. you can only minimise the risk by getting as much info as possible..after that it's just hoping for a bit of luck or to avoid that bit of bad luck

yeah of course, but how often do you get turned over because the rules wernt applied properly, bad decisions made, or some skulduggery's gone on?

I was just trying to think of the sport least susceptible to the infallibility of the ref, lets say you had the following pieces of inside information, which would you feel most confident acting upon......

darts- one guys got a bad wrist that knowone else knows about

football- one team has been hit with a flu virus the day before a match

horseracing- the trainer feels a horse is +10bs on its official rating

I'd go with darts everytime, no ref to make bad decisions, no draw involved(unless its a sky premiere league match) the best man on the day will win.

with horse racing the jockey could give it a bad ride, make mistakes at the fences, the horse could get disqualified or just decide when its out there its not up for a race today.

darts is the sport where if you have some info the least amount of outside things can impact upon the outcome.

Can't beat a good football bet.  But it is of course a very unreliable market.

It would be horse racing for me, but I'd stick to quality races or competitive meetings where you could be sure the horse was "trying".  If you have a form line to go on then its a great advantage to have.
