Title: chat boxes - an observation Post by: Claw75 on June 10, 2007, 11:13:50 PM So I've been playing poker for 18 months or thereabouts now, during which time, as one would hope, my game has continued to improve. In the last couple of months, I've been particularly pleased with the way I've been playing, making few mistakes, timing my moves well etc. One thing I've noticed lately is that the better I (feel I) play, the more I get slagged off in the chat box for being a 'donk' or an 'idiot' or, my own personal fave, a 'damned lucky no skilled newbie' :D. At the stakes I play, I'm guessing that a lot of these people have read a book, and anyone that doesn't play by it is, by definition, bad.

Title: Re: chat boxes - an observation Post by: Sark79 on June 10, 2007, 11:25:05 PM I can't turn them on. I have tried, but I find it far too distracting. Whenever I do turn them on, I just end of chatting and it costs me more money. I find it easier to concentrate with them switched off

Now I have become a bit more confident and watched Flushy in action I am more inclined to play medium hands where as not so long ago I wouldnt have. The obuse when you hit a flush/straight with 67s is awesome rotflmfao The other night I was playing in a game and there were a couple of Italians on the table chatting. My italian is very limited but my Spanish isnt bad so I was getting the gist of the convo. Mateyboy 1 (CL) had raised and reraise with his AA mateyboy2 was allin with his flush draw and hit. Matey1 said "bel cual" which I translated to be "nice bum/rear/river"...I was in stitches and couldnt see the scene for laughing. Those hand can be very strange, the resulting pots can be huge, the resulting abuse even huger (is there such a word?). Good luck.
