Title: Blooming Sat navs Post by: Indestructable on June 11, 2007, 08:15:48 PM I had enough of map reading and getting lost so invested in one of these sat navs. Had some great trips with it so far, but then along came Liverpool last week.
Journey up there was fine and directions spot on. I then came to a round about and it said turn right at the roundabout and pointed towards the Mersey tunnel. Fair enough i thought and drove down the tunnel, paid my £1.30 and went ahead. Only to get a direction of at the next rotary take the third exit and points towards the tunnel. WTF :dontask: Ok that is what it says so i pay another £1.30 and go back through the tunnel. I get out of the tunnel and it says take the 2nd exit at the next rotary and again points to the tunnel. I am now starting to get wound up ;grr; Every way I tried the sat nav wanted me to go back through the tunnel. I disconnect the sat nav and rely on the old fashioned way of asking someone for directions. I spend a further 30 minutes driving round Liverpool (including seeing the Everton ground) without success. Eventually I arrive at a hotel throughly hacked off and ask the receptionist whether I had the right address. Only for her to reply along the lines of "don't tell me you tried to get here by sat nav" It wouldn't surprise me if there is a scouse sat nav scam run by a tunnel company to keep you going backwards and forwards through the tunnel. No moral to this story but just wanted to get it off my chest. :D Title: Re: Blooming Sat navs Post by: The_nun on June 11, 2007, 08:19:15 PM I had enough of map reading and getting lost so invested in one of these sat navs. Had some great trips with it so far, but then along came Liverpool last week. Title: Re: Blooming Sat navs Post by: dik9 on June 11, 2007, 11:17:08 PM I was going to Alton Towers on Saturday, from Wishaw near the Belfry, I expected it to take me on the Toll Road to join up with the M6 at cannock. Usually I press no to toll charges, but knew it was probably the quickest way. However it took me to the A38 to join the Toll Road, then took me off the Toll road 3 islands down the A38? So I ended up paying £3 to be diverted from a straight road then put back on the same road?? I think it's the only way the Toll Road gets used at weekends, must have a deal with Tom Tom.
