Title: JP in the money in $2,500 No Limit WSOP Event 19
Post by: AlrightJack on June 12, 2007, 04:13:54 PM
Spoke to JP earlier today and he has made day 2 in event 19. He has 33,000 chips. There are 99 players left and they are all in the money. He has a bad cold though and is not feeling too well, but is happy with the way he has played so far. This is the 2nd event he has played out there - the first was the $1,500 NL, in which he didn't win a single hand.

Another bites the dust:

Chris Birchby Eliminated in 34th Place ($12,348)
Mike Matusow raises from middle position to 16,500, Marcus Obser reraises to 50,000, Chris Birchby is all in for 6,000 from the big blind, and Matusow folds. Birchby shows AK , and Obser holds 99. The board comesĀ  8..5..5..A.........9-- Birchby turns the lead with an ace, but Obser rivers a full house to win the pot. Chris Birchby is eliminated in 34th place, earning $12,348.

TERRIBLE BEAT FOR YOUNG JP.

Devin Porter Doubles Through Greg 'FBT' Mueller
This hand took place during the last level. Devin Porter raised to 17,000, John Paul Kelly reraised to 52,000, Devin Porter moved all in for 182,500, and Kelly instantly called with K-K. Porter showed Q-Q, and he'd need to improve to stay alive. To make matters worse for Porter, Mueller said that he folded Q-2, leaving him with one out to a set. Porter remarks that Mueller just jinxed Kelly by saying that. Sure enough, there's a queen on the flop (the case queen, if Mueller is to be believed), and Porter goes on to win the hand, doubling up to about 370,000 in chips. Kelly was crippled on the hand. The hand happened a little while ago, but now you know how Devin 'TranquilChaos' Porter moved up the leaderboard, and what happened to John Paul Kelly.

I sincerely hope JP can come back from this, as l probably speak for alot of people on the forum in saying it would be difficult for me. Wins that hand, l see him with a Bracelet in his second ever World Series event. Very Unlucky JP, your chips were in when you were in front mate.

Yes mate lost with kk to qq- with a queen folded by another player. The guy who beat him is on chipped up on FT- and is the guy who won UB main event last year ( now sponsered by UB).

Hey guys thanks for the support that last hand was a sickener especially with the other Q already folded. I dunno how I managed to get through day 1 as I felt as bad as I've ever felt not just at the poker table either. I slept on it and felt really good for day 2 and quickly began accumlating chips and felt I wasn't in control of the table but was playing in a controlled way and didn't think I would make a mistake. 400k with 4 tables left would've been huge and I had great respect at my table.

It's 6 am here and I've just had a horrible nights sleep and been sick but I feel a lot better now and will be playing the 5k NL in a few hours so let's see what I can do this time!

As he's sponsored by Blue Square, I imagine it's on their site somewhere.

Two of the "Hit Squad" are now sponsored by Blue Square I believe - Praz & Karl - so I assume they'd have a Blue Square blog, too.
