Title: blondepedia Comp Post by: snoopy1239 on June 13, 2007, 01:27:55 AM As you know, blondepedia is now up and running and the bonde shop is on it's way.
To celebrate the launch of both, blonde poker are staging a fun comp that offers you the chance to not only win two stunning new T-Shirts or hoodies, but also help build the blondepedia database. The competition is simple. For those hawk eyed viewers out there, you may well have noticed that 5 very famous players are still vacant: Antonio Esfandiari Tony G Sam Farha Jamie Gold Isabelle Mercier All we are asking is for you to pen a simple 120-200 word bio on any of those players. The best ones, as judged by our superb moderating team, will win a prize from the shop while also having the distinguishable honour of seeing their bio be added permanently to what will be one of the database's most popular pages. Three runner-uppers will slot into the relative bio spaces. Of course, you may write the bio in any way you wish, but our judges will be looking for a good all round bio with a distinct dose of the 'blonde spirit'. But remember, no swearing and no plagiarism, otherwise a certain Beagle could be in the slammer before you can say 'pass the soap'. The deadline is four weeks from today. Feel free to enter as many times as you want. You may send entrants to me either via pm, or via the 'contribute' page on blondepedia, but please leave a contact email. I wouldn't advise posting them on this thread, however, as people may be tempted to pinchy pinchy info. Admittedly, prizes aren't huge, but it's just a bit of fun, and also you'd be giving a little back to the blonde poker brand, so why not give it a crack. Cheers and good luck! He may not be a nice person the way he dealt with his % and that but he played the perfect game of poker imo and won the main event without ever being allin. Any man who can play for all that time never being allin and covered should be applauded not called a luckbox.
Varkoni was a complete luckbox, moneymaker started the poker boom and made the game as big as it is now. Raymer is a great player and will win many more events as well as being a fantastic ambassador for the game then we had hachem who imo is the best of the last 5 champions by a mile. He should have had another bracelet or 2 last year but for some outrageous outdraws. Jamie Gold although most would agree is a bit of a knob can certainly play and although he wont have the longevity of Hachem or Raymer he played the one tournament perfectly. He did get a little lucky at times (can you win a big tourney without this?) but I think he played some great poker and I loved his speech play. Fooled plenty of final tablers. Bear in mind that when I say they paid over $1m to the dealers, they had no say in this. 2.7% of the prize pool went to the dealers - the players never saw this money. So whilst a dealer may moan that Jamie Gold never gave the dealers anything, he did in fact give them over $300,000. I don't know if that equates to "improved", but it well may. I don't know if that equates to "improved", but it well may. They haven't IMO - I imagine it might give players a little bit more play at the beginning of the lower buy-in events, but if you use Arnold Snyder's Poker Tournament Formula spreadsheet (essentially it equates how long it'd take you to blind off without playing a hand) there is virtually no difference. A $1500 event last year (starting chips 1500, blinds 25-25, 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, one hour levels) has a patience factor of 14.06 - blind off time 3.75hrs A $1500 event this year (starting chips 3000, blinds 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 100-200/25) has a patience factor of 14.93, blind off time 3.86hrs. However the real bite, apparently, is coming at the FT with them lasting approx half the time (did someone post this on blonde from 2+2 or do i read too many fourms?) FWIW if you put the structre for the Venetian DeepStack's $330 thru the tournament formula gizmo (40 minute levels, 6000 chips, 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 100-200/25 etc) it's patience factor is 14.79. Now considering the Venentian's $1000 deepstacks (and $500?) give you 10,000 chips and one hour levels it's not hard to see why many players are heading there. The Venetian it is, then! What would that magical Formula come up with for the Midlands Meltdown? 15k starting chips, all Levels, & 1 hour clock? Is it freely available on the Net? I must say, I'm intrigued by such a Formula, & it may be what I'm looking for to optimise my Live event schedule. What "hands per hour" assumption does the learned Snyder use? Also, is there an Online (adjusted presumably) version? Most players seem to just follow the crowd, & go where the big money Events are, (sometimes without even knowing the structure!) but I've at last realised (prompted by Red), that finding Tourneys - the buy-in is irrelevant really - wirth structures that suit my pedestrian game, is the key element in Game selection, & is serving me well. Tikay by the way I don't know the structure of the Bellagio Cup Events as the $1000+ entry fee is far too high for me. I imagine Rob S amongst others will be able to fill you in though. Btw on July 2nd/3rd Binions is holding $500 NLHE events with 10,000 chips and 40 minute levels. How revealing is all THAT? So in fact, the structure is unchanged from last year, as to speed, & in fact the Finals are faster. Amazing. I know that slow structures are not everyone's cup of tea, but using the Snyder stuff, whether you prefer fast or slow, it's easy to see if the Tourney suits you. Great stuff, really.
