Title: Re: spoty 2007 Post by: Ironside on June 13, 2007, 08:14:50 PM well betfair have a new market up as SPOTY without hamilton
i aint sure if henman or monty pull off a big shock this year then people might vote for them as hamilton will have another chance they wont also wiggins winning the TDF would be huge (he wont win he wont even finish in top 20) but he has a chance of winning the prologe which is being held in london which will capture the publics mind then he has another chance at one of the 2 later time trials with the public all geed up from the prologe then a top 5 for spoty would be achivable lets not forget there is a rugby wc this year if wilcko gets back and his kicking inspire england to reach semi or final i think the 1.25 being bet on hamilton is looking a bit lean there is pleny of oppotunities this summer for someone to garner some points with the public towards the spoty Title: Re: spoty 2007 Post by: Ironside on June 13, 2007, 08:15:33 PM If Henman were to win Wimbledon he would win it, otherwise it will be Hamilton you dont think monty and a major would put him into the fray? Title: Re: spoty 2007 Post by: Royal Flush on June 13, 2007, 08:40:51 PM If Henman were to win Wimbledon he would win it, otherwise it will be Hamilton you dont think monty and a major would put him into the fray? no. For years the British public have followed Henman every Wimbledon due to the intense speculation that "this year might be it" now if he were to actually pull of the feat all those years of hope will come back into people's minds and he would get the vote for sure. There is nothing that could top it. Of course it aint going to happen, i say lump on Hamilton. Title: Re: spoty 2007 Post by: Newportlad on June 13, 2007, 08:46:52 PM If Wiggins wins the Tour De France (it ain't going to happen, but if he did), then he should be SPOTY of the year without question.
Title: Re: spoty 2007 Post by: Ironside on June 13, 2007, 09:15:21 PM is cycling too tainted by drugs though ?
Title: Re: spoty 2007 Post by: Bazzaboy on June 13, 2007, 09:31:34 PM is cycling too tainted by drugs though ? Yes imo. Still a minority sport as well. Hamilton is buying money imo. Talking of buying money Khan to beat Limond@ 1/10 comes into that category as well. Doing a sport that no one really watches and the human gets the recognition and not the lumbering beast that jumps over the fences. But because it's one of the few sports the BBC can afford to cover these days, when they can advertise the current SPOTY is competing, to try to boost viewing figures.
