Ordering is easy, and we hope you will find some items you like.

There is a facility for us to personalise your order (back of item) with a name. If you would like to do this please contact Ginger (before you place the order) who will help you to achieve this.

If you have any problems once you make an order, then please let me know what the issue is, and I will endeavour to assist.

I am clearing the diary as I write.

Finally we would like to develop a range of items with blonde-related slogans on them. Your ideas are most welcome before we put this in place.

Why are the prices so high?

You appear to have marked up the shirtcity.com (http://shirtcity.com) base prices by between 50% and 100%.

The cap costs about £9 but you sell it for £18.

Margins are slim

£4.95 for p+p seems pretty steep.  Is that something you have any control over?

Ginger is going to be in charge of the personalising of shirts, so as I said above if interested contact her (in other words, I've forgot). Indeed she did the vast bulk of the work for the shop, for which I am very grateful.

Pricing is obviously a key issue for us and you, and we gave it a lot of thought.

I'll deal with it head on.

The shop is intended to be an effective way for us to offer clothing to the blondeites. Of course we would like it to make a small return to help contribute to costs, whether they be live updates/our few staff etc etc

However we do not want to take the piss frankly

We have a base price from the supplier and then their recommended price. In each single case we have lowered the price we are offering the products at significantly compared to the recommended price

I won't give you the full sweep of margins but almost all are in single figures

On the cap, which we had the greatest problem with..blonde makes £1 per cap sold...so you know our base price there now.

I have product I ordered during a trial. Its good quality, it got delivered efficiently.

In due course we'll broaden the shop out (ranges with slogans) and offer goods as cardroom/comp prizes etc etc

We'll see how it goes for now

I'm not sure where you got the price of £9 from, but I assure you the caps cost us considerably more. We also agree that the cap cost are a little steep. The £18 listed price was a missed unreduced price, corrected now.

I quite like the hoodies too. To add up to 2 lines of text on the back it's an extra £3, for up to 3 lines an extra £5.

If anyone wants personalisation, PM me and I'll sort it out.

Wheres the option to pay by debit card?

Switch and Solo are both accepted, as of course are Visa debit cards, PayPal, Mastercard, Visa and even American Express. I think that covers most people...

It's all in the checkout.

Can you not use Paypal with a debit card?  Otherwise, I can't see an obvious option for you.

It's a bit misleading then, as these cards aren't shown on the main pages of the site.  Someone with a debit card is unlikely to progress through to the checkout if they think that their card isn't accepted.

Just needs a few additional graphics at the top of the page.

I agree it would help if those graphics were shown in the shop pages, unfortunately we can't add them, but I assure you they are there.

I'll make sure the payment options are known somehow.....

It is a solo card. I press submit info and it deletes all my info that i have just typed in ffs.

Barclays has its faults but you never get the online problems that you do with other banks. My missus was with HSBC and she could hardly use her card anywhere online!!!!

if the products are over priced they wont sell as fast thus making less profit ultimately for blonde

We have a price to us from the partner..partner recommends a retail price above that. We thought that was too high and reduced them significantly

Cap aside, I think the prices are reasonable and the product is decent quality.

we have a back up relationship with the company who supplied a few shirts for the last blonde bash, so its a possibility down the line


the problem with shop options is that we are not really in a position to hold a lot of stock, cost wise or potential write off wise

hence going with an online partner like this

Potentially, we would only have caps and a polo shirt, not much of a choice!

i suppose expense wise we can't complain as profit helps to fund the wonderful updates etc.

As in any commercial sale, the whole of the Gross Profit goes to blonde. The Gross Profit is then used to contribute to Overheads (mainly wages) & Running Costs, with the balance (we wish.....) being Net Profit.

We don't expect to make any Net Profit on the Merchandise, as it happens, though we will get indirect Marketing benefit from Members wearing the gear, thouigh that's hard to quantify or measure.

thats great news as im sure keeping a site like this running isn't cheap and the more we can do as members to help the site survive the better.

Ok, I'll try to explain as simply as possible....

If we get embroidered stock it would mean having minimum order requirements for us, usually 36 per item. These are ordered before anyone on blonde gets a chance to say yes or no to having one. That then means that we would NOT be able to offer any personalisation for that ordered style.

So, we then have to store those 36 items, and then offer them to members.

This would have to be done on every style we offered, so if we offered 8 different shirts/hoodies/sweatshirts, that is usually 288 items to be stored by one of the Mods, unpersonalised, all paid for in advance...

So, we take a gamble on what styles/colours/sizes members want. What if we get it wrong? we are left with a mountain of clothing nobody wants, which we simply cannot do. So, we would have to minimise the stock held to reduce the risk of having the waste - and hence would only likely have one style of shirt and a cap available.

As you can plainly see the current shop is a better offer all round, members get more choice, we get less risk and outlay. Yes members pay fractionally more for having a large (ish) range of choice, but it also means that blonde gets a smaller profit.
