Title: Great Jesse May article
Post by: The Camel on June 27, 2007, 11:00:34 PM
Found this on Cardplayer. A terrific read and confirms my belief Jesse is a far better writer than commentator.

Sorry Keith, can't allow the link

love his commentary.
Is Jesse May 'Messy Jay' on blonde? I keep running into Messy Jay in tournaments online.

wow, that's him on Mansion too then. Bet he was doing that unique laugh of his at his computer screen as I repeatedly donked chips to him. I offered him a peerage if he would donk some back, but he refused.  ;grr; ;grr;
I'm unsure of the commentator reference in OP, I think he's gold as a commentator.

LOL @ "far better writer than commentator"............how could he not be?

the only way i could imagine his writing being worse than his commentary was if he were writing with a pen stuck up his arse, quoting phrases from the sun, writing in a coarse combination of phone text abbreviations, cartoon character symbols and smilies whilst smoking crack and listening to chaz and dave.

Why was the link taken down?

Just curious.

Why was the link taken down?

Just curious.

Because it leads to links to to other poker sites.

People would not be too keen to pay for the privilege of advertising on blonde if we allow others to do it for free.

I'm not saying for a moment that you were doing that Keith, but it's one rule for all.

Any chance you could PM me the link Keith.

These rules are becoming quite restrictive!

So that means no links to the hendon mob, 2+2 or basically any other poker site.

I would say that rule needs a rethink.

Just too restrictive to my mind.

We have not, hitherto, generally allowed links to any other Forums, except 2+2.

But we are, as you know, revisiting the Rules situation, & we will look at this at the same time.

To be honest, I hate the "No links" rule, it's a pain in the arse for all concerned, but if we allow links some people abuse it something rotten.

Is it not the point of having mods? So you can differentiate between the two?

True, it gets abused by The Royal Society Of Spammers.

I had no idea of this links rule. I wouldn't have put the link in if I had. I have only posted links to 2+2 in the past and hence haven't fallen foul of this rule.

However, I think perhaps there should be a list of "sites of general interst" such as cardplayer, pokernews, hendonmob etc where links are allowed.

Thanks Keith, & noted. It will be considered jn the current revisiting of the Forum Rules, & we will publish the revised/new Rules within 7 days.

I dont think you need a list of sites of general interest, because thats still open to certain levels of spamming, but as flushy alluded to, the mods should be able to make a judgement call as to whether or not a link is spam or whether it is a geniune link to further the cause of conversation. Obviously this opens the mods up to accusations of "clique" or "favoratism" behavior, but it makes the most sense to me.

Hey Keith, your closing up on 1000 posts, are you gonna give us a 1000th post to remember? =)

Hopefully it will be the one celebrating me attaining supernova elite on Stars!

But, maybe, if the timing is right, it might be something to remember... been brooding over something in Camel Towers recently.

That is precisely the problem.

but should that be a problem? It seems like a case of the prison being run by the inmates if you let a couple of pedants stop you from making subjective decisions (which imo you would make correctly pretty much 100% of the time)

We do allow some links, and we will going forward using common sense and "general interest"

It was never "No links"

It was always "No links" to poker site adverts.

Now shush before you get keith on my case.

If it was the article written in April this year about Padraig which I found by searching

CP's authors then it is an extremely well-written and informative article indeed.

Thanks for the tip.

I thought that generally if you want to post a link then you pm a mod first, to check it's okay!

Seeing as links to 2+2 are OK, here's a link to a thread there which is about Jesse's post and contains a link therein.
