Title: o/t goodbye for gooooooooooood
Post by: tonypoker on June 27, 2007, 11:56:29 PM
was wondering if any blondes had any of experience of someone in their family buggering off to the other side of the world and how they dealt with this (I'm not talking about installing Skype and getting a webcam), I'm talking about people coming to terms with the fact that they might see their own (grown up)  kids on maybe 3 more occasions during their lifetime.........

I feel for you mate,  that must be an unpleasant position to be in.    I kind of act as a one unit person and don't really have a close bond to any family member, so it is hard for me to understand the emotions.  It is strange, I was thinking about this very thing earlier this evening after a friend asked me how I dealt with not really talking to family, however it is normal for me so I don't know any different.

You never know mate, they may move back at some point in the future.

Both sides make an effort to see each other? Even if its just alternate christmas', could be quite nice travelling to another country for a christmas.

Gonna go through this myself when my ex takes my 7 year old boy to Oz later this year.

I look on it as an opportunity for him. It's gotta be a better way of life there, and hopefully if he is good at something he will be pushed to his best at it. Unlike this country where people can have a tendency to be held back if they are good at anything.

I'm going to probably cripple myself financially by going there on a yearly basis to see him, as all her family are there, there is no reason for her to come back to England.

Regular Skype and video calls will be used as well.

Australia is not as far away as it used to be. A return flight can be bought for £500. A two week holiday with £1000 to spend can be afforded biannually by most people.
