Title: Arsenal's decline (or not)......
Post by: Karabiner on July 03, 2007, 09:37:43 PM
There has been a lot of chat since Henry's departure that Arsenal have lost it and have little chance of CL qualification.

One geezer even stated that Arsenal had no chance of even finishing in the top seven this year, although he did turn down my offer of even money a top six spot.

Everyone including Paul Merson say that Tottenham are about to userp Arsenal's top four CL spot.

Well here is your chance to put your money where your mouth is:

You can all have even money to modest amounts that Tottenham spuds finish above Arsenal in the premiership this season.

Fill your boots if you dare

u really believe arsenal = henry ??

if u do u really should start to watch arsenal play in league cup tie from last season and seasons before where wenger leaves out most of the top "pros" of the game and they still walk all over the 1st team of other premiership sides including liverpools so called amazing team....

Arsenal will finish higher than Spurs too I think but I'll wait to see how the rest of the transfer window pans out.

Ralph Ralph Ralph ... now I had you down as a sensible sort, a bit blinkered when it comes to seeing anything football related if anyone dares criticise that shower of shite that you support maybe, but a sensible bloke never the less.

But would a sensible bloke who is so certain that the foreign legion from Cashburden grove will finish above the mighty Spurs only offer EVEN MONEY on Spurs finishing above the goons ?

Have a look at your prices matey EVENS is shocking ... or maybe you are scared ? ;)

Yeah they were

Line ups

Liverpool: Dudek, Peltier, Hyypia, Paletta, Warnock (Alonso 58), Guthrie, Gerrard, Aurelio, Gonzalez (Luis Garcia 11) (Carragher 75), Fowler, Bellamy.
Subs Not Used: Reina, Crouch.

Carragher came on after arsenal had scored 5.  Like I said, they weren't all playing.

A better line-up was playing in March against arsenal though: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/6491075.stm

Arsenal will miss Henry - as would any team in the world.  Even the most die-hard Spurs fan will begrudgingly admit that he's one of the best forwards in the world and arguably the best to ever play in the premiership.

But Wenger's built a very decent squad, and although last season wasn't the best, I don't think the post-Henry transition will take too long.  Still better than Spurs.

The discussion was about beating Liverpool's first team which did not happen in the league cup.

In our last league game I think it was pretty conclusive...

I came back with a counter, evens being reasonable for top four not top six finish, and wanting to see how the summer panned out.

The point I commented on was you said about Liverpool players nobody had heard of, I listed several "1st team" players or at least players that people of heard of. Dragging up 1 in 4 games that you managed to beat us in last season was not the topic it was just an attempt to try to be clever. It was like saying ooh look we won this game.

The conversation was not even taking the piss out of the result at anfield that night it was just a point put across by Adamg( I think ) that Arsenal will be lost without TH and he commented on the fact that night at Anfield our kids put on a great performance. He could of course mentioned the fact that mostly the same team won at everton, beat Spurs' 1st in the semis and totally outplayed Chelsea in the Final for the large part of the game and were unlucky not to win. All of these were played without TH, infact played without alot of "1st team players". The reference made back to the league game at Anfield,IMHO, had no relevance to the convesation and as I said before was a attempt to take the piss

The original post implied that your kids beat our first team which simply was not true. I agree with your post but it was NOT our first team.

I then was more than happy to point out that the last time you played our first team you lost. ;ifm;

AHEM !! The original post offered even money that the spuds finished above the mighty Gooners in this year's premiership.

So if you guys wish to discuss another matter get your own thread up and running.

Yes, with pleasure Adam, if you give me ten points start.

PS

Before you all start queueing up, this bet is for Adam only as I am clearly offering him the best of it, although I suspect it may not be enough to tempt him judging by his previous offer of even money on a 5/4 shot for the title finishing higher than a 12/1 shot.

LOL, Adam, you have just finished a massive 20 points in front of us and have gone out and spent a further £50m+

Meanwhile we have sold our best player, have uncertainty in the boardroom, rumours of other players leaving and on top of that it like the manager may only be there for one more season.

Yet you expect us to close the gap by 12 points. if you make it 20 points (same as the gap this year, and more realistic then you have a bet)

Arsenal will finish 3rd and maybe even challenged next season if key players stay fit.

Reason: team balance and strategic focus.

I definitely think we may surprise a few peple this season, it's always proved foolish to write Wenger's teams off.

We really need a top class right fullback imo to complete the jigsaw.

What was all the Arsenal coming third talk? ;)
