Title: pacific poker Post by: AdamM on October 14, 2005, 02:45:03 PM tying to download pacific but I get a message telling me it's already running (it's not) Is is a skin for a network and if so what are the others?

Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: byronkincaid on October 14, 2005, 03:17:22 PM I had that problem when going through the Blonde banner ad a few months ago. I had to go thro the Pacific site directly. Emailed blonde to let them know but got no answer so dunno if this is still the problem.
Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: DJKebab on October 14, 2005, 03:43:59 PM Think it's a standalone network so shouldn't be any conflicts with alternative skins. Pretty horrific software so it doesn't surprise me folk are seeing issues, but it's worth it for the fishing... ;D
Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: Simon Galloway on October 14, 2005, 03:51:46 PM A quick by-the-by about Pacific Poker.
They mailed me a few months back and said they had reviewed my account and as a significant winner (GIQ I know..) had decided to stop me converting points into cashback! The argument was that the cashback feature is designed to keep losing players in the game, not to be abused by successful players! I pointed out that the puny cashback was just a fraction of the rake I am helping generate, but they choose to see it that I am making money out of them and I should be grateful to them, not cashing in points to boot!! I also pointed out that reload bonuses are the best way to help losing players stay in the game and reward points absolutely should be used to help retain the business of winnning players. As it is, they have a business model which deserves to send them to the wall as better sites get it right and leave them behind. Their email might as well have read "Dear Simon, we don't want you to have 0.000005% of your rake back, so we are confiscating it and using it to fund losing players, as we can't be bothered to fund them oursleves. Thanks for the money - please continue to play a lot at our site!" Unfortunately Pacific usually manage to host such wonderful games that I just have to play there from time to time - but nowhere near as much if they got their act together. Anyone else get a mail like that? Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: Sheriff Fatman on October 14, 2005, 03:57:26 PM I've known a few 2+2ers report the same thing happening, which is why Pacific remains un-downloaded for me (well that and the week long wait for cashouts).

Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: Robert HM on October 14, 2005, 04:40:37 PM Anyone else get a mail like that? If only! ::) Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: Longy on October 14, 2005, 05:27:44 PM I downloaded this when i first started playing poker and they gave me 10 dollars without depositing. I have never had to deposit and withdrawn quite a bit. To say the games are soft is being kind. I often play the sit n gos on their for a change up from the cash game grind and some of the play/ tactics are amusing to say the least. The structure is quite nice 15 hands a level especially when you are often playing 5 handed (from 10) after 2 levels. My in the money ratio must be over 50% and i am by no means a sit n go expert. Well worth playing from a profit point of view but the software and customer services are not great.

"you were offered a freeroll if you went through his link". How many others were offered this facility via blonde PM? blonde has it's own link to Pacific. Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: DTD-Nick.W on October 14, 2005, 06:35:02 PM me 2 tk

Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: redsimon on October 14, 2005, 08:09:11 PM well he wouldn't be the first guy to offer affilate links by PM. not that I got one from him. If I did I would bin it as pacific is too much trouble.
Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: Sunday8pm on October 14, 2005, 09:26:18 PM adam, i CANT play pacific poker because of this problem, it says its already running when i know it isnt!
have you managed to sort it? Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: Tom L on October 14, 2005, 10:18:12 PM I just had pacific saying it was running when it wasn't but I did have William Hill poker running at the time. When I shut down William Hill, Pacific poker worked fine.
I also recieved a PM from Smithy although it didn't contain any link to Pacific. Title: Re: pacific poker Post by: tikay on October 14, 2005, 11:47:17 PM I was incorrect in saying that there was a link to Pacific. I'm now reliably informed that "smithy69" was being paid a "finders fee" for each sign up he generated.
