Title: easypar
Post by: Ironside on July 07, 2007, 05:46:15 PM
ok the golf game easypar

looks like fun

i have signed up to play in the american nationwide tour next weekend the tee off times are much more acceptable to me
and there is less players signed up for it so easier to make the cut

i noticed booder is signed up for the british master

are you crazy?

if it sells out you are likely not to get a round due to your low exemption rating and unlikely to get anywhere near the cut

from my understanding you can play the smaller events on either side of the pond then when you have got a decent player and caddie etc etc

you can then enter the bigger events

who else is in?

I'm in as bongo.

Think I might switch to the US event this week (currently 112 in the BA CA Golf Open list) to ensure I get and game and have some banter with Iron.

Can someone explain what the game is, is it fantasy league stuff, simulations or wha?

Would be interested to play if i knew what it is!

It might help if there was link I guess.

http://www.easypar.org/

You have a golfer and you train up his skills, choose equipment and tactics to use in tournaments and watch the results.

I would tell you more but none of us have played a round yet!

If you get in in time sign up for the Louisiana Open - it's where most of the blondes are playing this week.

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on July 08, 2007, 07:33:24 PM
the idea is you are a player on the golf curcuit

you train the player up

you buy equipment hire a caddie pay for travel and hotels and then play in golf events

you earn prize money by making the cut and earn exemptions by placing well on the tour or winning events

etc etc

and you continue to train your player up

matt you can train your player 3 times every 6 days (any more you risk injury)
you can train once every 23 hours
try to balance your training and not become expert in 1 thing
you can buy buy new clubs i hear the standard aint that great

the final list for who is in which comp is printed after the US tour game finished tonight

you can then set out your tactics for toru event book your travel and any practise rounds

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on July 09, 2007, 02:59:19 PM
dont forget to sort out your travel and your practise rounds etc etc

and the most importnat thing your tatics

you can either set up each hole seperate or an overall tatic for the round

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: divaflava on July 09, 2007, 03:00:29 PM

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on July 09, 2007, 03:06:31 PM
not sure

i set mine now and it gives me 3 practise rounds in *** hotel (its not a swear word)

i might be in trouble though i think i need a top 5 finish to break even

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on July 09, 2007, 03:08:54 PM
diva every thing i have read and heard its best not to concentrate on putting or driving but to spread training over all aspects and to keep the player balanced

i was going to try and get a top quailty putter first as thats where half the shots are made and the most important shots afterall a 5ft putt is worth the same as a 300 yard drive

Title: Re: easypar

From what I've sort of speed read, you can change your tactics throughout the round.

SO long as you are done before the tee shot of the hole you are changing.

Sounds good.

Wish I could change tactics on Battrick occassionally.

Just got my validation e-mail.
I seem to be entered to play the British Masters this week!
Anyone know how i can change which tournament i play in?

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Bongo on July 09, 2007, 07:34:43 PM
I think it's too late to change now.

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Graham C on July 09, 2007, 08:32:21 PM
Am I right in saying there's not that much to be getting on with?  I entered my tourney, put myself on the driving range yesterday and I can't see much else to do at the moment.  I may invest in some new clubs but I want to see how I get on first.

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Bongo on July 09, 2007, 08:35:21 PM
You can set your tactics for the tournament and play some practice rounds at some point, no idea when though!

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Graham C on July 09, 2007, 08:37:15 PM
I set my stay to 5 days so I get one practice round apparently.  I'm just playing safe for the whole tourney for now as I don't know how I'm going to be playing.

Damn, I'm in debt in Easypar.  I've been training with the golf pro - is that the $5k one?   The $5k one anyway, but I'm crap at golf so I'm not winning anything :(

What level are you practicing at?

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Bongo on August 14, 2007, 05:03:43 PM
I use the free one, the driving range.

From what I've read it makes very little difference at the lower levels to use a higher one.

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Graham C on August 14, 2007, 05:05:00 PM
oh well, that's where all ma cash has gone :D

I'm only allowed one practice round now, the bank won't let me stay any longer.
Still, good enough for John Daly, good enough for me!

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on August 14, 2007, 05:47:53 PM
i started hihg and i've moved down to the range

i didnt notice much difference in progress due to different types of training

anyone with easypar pro want a $10 a hole game tonight?

Title: Re: easypar

You're probably the one with easypar pro aren't you?

Does the service improve with Pro?

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on August 14, 2007, 07:30:24 PM
nope have to log in and out every couple of mins

but it keeps a record of everything for you

few slight extra deathures like being able to bet with EP money with friends

but its same game on same server etc etc

but they aint going to be able to improve mush unless people pay a couple of $s here and there

i think the game could be great with a little work

mind you i am still shooting crap week in week out dispite all the work on and off the course

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on August 14, 2007, 07:38:52 PM
oh one thing it tells you is how you are ranked per skill level with everyone else playing in the same comp as you

unfourtunately i booked into canada early hopeing to get a place

then by the time i noticed a 3rd comp added to the list it was alreasy over full
so i sneaked into canada against the big boys

Skill Area Skill Level EP Rank Tnm Rank
Driving outstanding 457 107
Irons formidable 403 106
Short Game outstanding 385 104
Putting outstanding 432 112
Fitness outstanding 313 89

first number is where i rank in the ep world for each skill the 2nd is where i rank in this event

the odds on me making the cut are about 750-1

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on August 14, 2007, 07:41:55 PM
i can also see who is on the range and what they are practising

someone is splashing the boat out

Gordonil is on the range with the local PGA professional practicing short irons.

What level skills is everyone at?  Mine are

Driving   outstanding      9
Long Irons   brilliant      10
Mid Irons   excellent      7
Short Irons   solid      6
Short Game   outstanding      9
Putting   magnificent      11
Fitness   solid      6

I keep forgetting to practice and usually only do 2 a week instead of 3 I think

Title: Re: easypar
Post by: Ironside on August 14, 2007, 08:13:09 PM
i heard it was best to keep all the levels the same so i am training them all to same level

no idea what ever one else is at but there are only a handfull of cat 99 players in it

when i checked on saturday night i was 109 on the list and the first 99 player was 108

i didnt think i would get a game
