 I'm looking for a normal job and not something I used to do ages ago..just a simple management position roundabout the 30k mark would do me nicely.

I got this one again today (about the 3rd time this month); "We feel the job just wouldn't be challenging enough for you, you'd be more suited to a senior management role in our company unfortunatly there aren't any positions available at that level at the moment"

What is it about employers that they think you want a "challenging" job? I want a nice easy 9-5/8-5 job that pays me 30k a year and leaves me with plenty of free time in the evening and weekends....If I wanted a job that would be a challenge I'd apply for one! Even if I explain to them that I am fed-up with jobs that require me putting in 60-70 hours a week they still don't get it as they think you surely want to make more and more money even at the expense of your private life?

Blah.

What about a nice easy 'area manager' job at ALDI? $40k per year and a company audi TT? They were advertising a while back and might still have some management postions??

Andrew..yeah that's what it means but I keep explaining to them that I don't want something else....just free time to play loads of poker :)

when i came out the army and started looking for work i never even got the offer of an interview apart from one where i forgot to mention i was in a wheelchair but this wasnt very good as the interview and the job was up 3 flights of stairs

I have been interviewing recently as well, I think the "you over qualified" response means one of two things:

• Oops this guy could be a real threat to me in my organisation
• There is no way I can match his salary expectations without sticking my neck out

major problem with theose jobs mads were most of them were all in aberdeen and it would cost more in travel than i would earn
and its too expensive to live in aberdeen

i gave up looking for work and doubt after such a long break i could get back into it
i still do volunteer stuff for disabilty groups and the PPF etc etc

The PPF as in for your CHP? If so, I bet you give them a hard time :) lol. i would love to see it :)

i give them hassle for using intials all the time

i think its the CHP (community health partnership?)


too many professional in some of these groups the carers stratergy group is just one professional after another and the introudcution they give there names and a whole lot of intials to there job title

my introudction is Ironside MDF (disabilty forum) and professional layabout some of the more senior people in the council and health side give me dirty looks but do i care?

This is their polite way of saying "**** off, you're **** and we wouldn't employ you if you were the last bloke on earth". They word it in this way so that you won't lose confidence in applying for other jobs.

When I first started my business I wanted to positively discriminate and get as many disabled people to apply as poss as I had a phone answering job - idea for someone who wanted to work from home.  Posted ads in all local associations/web sites etc - not one person disabled person applied .....sigh

lol..yeah that had crossed my mind aswell :)

anyways i told you not to bother applying for jobs at Birdseye and John West, they have enough fish in their products no need for any in the office..........
