Title: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Karabiner on July 16, 2007, 06:08:57 PM I've dabbled on a few outsiders that I consider to be overpriced, as is my wont.
This week I'm on: John Daly @ 600 (shown up on some leaderboards stateside lately and is still hugely talented) Jerry Kelly @ 300 (been in sizzling form recently and that price seems too big) Brian Davis @ 330 (played in the US this year but has featured in Opens before, so has the game) Graeme McDowell @ 140 (I consider this guy to be one of the biggest talents around) PS. I have also had a small bet on Alastair Forsyth @ 610 (another whom I rate as a great talent waiting in the wings) Good luck everyone ! Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Karabiner on July 16, 2007, 06:21:36 PM get on while stocks last!!! If any of these come in the next lot will be subscription only ::) Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: crip17 on July 16, 2007, 07:20:46 PM McDowell is playing great golf at the moment and you feel he has more to come. Although he still has to prove it and now is a good a time as any.
Jim Furyk @ 26 is a massive price especially ew Im on those 2 Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: brado on July 17, 2007, 12:00:00 AM Ok.... I want to back Harrington but at around 28/1 feel he is a little too short. He has been reported to have been playing Carnoustie a lot over the past few months and plays well in windy conditions. But his form this year hasn't been great. So, after tipping him for ages i am not going to bother backing him. Therefore he will probably win.
I'm instead having three outsiders... Richard Sterne is having a great year, winning at Celtic Manor and placing last week at Loch Lomond. 120/1 is available. Scott Verplank won the Byron Nelson. He is in great form, with 4 top 10 finishes in his last 4 starts, this includes 7th at the US Open. He has course form, finishing 15th in 1999, also finished high at Royal Troon in 2004 available at 110/1 at the moment, I can see him being a big tip in the racing post and being as short as 50/1 by Thursday. Boo Weekly is available at 290/1. His name amuses me. He also once had a fight with an orang-utan Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: chrisbruce on July 17, 2007, 10:21:55 AM I am going for the big value bet and picked a couple of long shots
Paul lawrie at 500-1 (e/w with 18-1 top 10) A better player than that price suggests and he has done it before Ross Fisher at 800-1 (e/w with 30-1 top 10) A real talent who just need to come of age, played well in the scottish open Im going to the practise day tomorrow to check out the course and hunt down some more hidden talent.......... good luck all Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Rooky9 on July 17, 2007, 12:40:16 PM i'm planning on using the without woods markets....
Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: matt674 on July 17, 2007, 01:04:36 PM I have gone for just one each way single: Niclas Fasth @ 40/1
Picked three in the US Bank Championship also each way: Kenny Perry @12/1, DJ Trahan @ 66/1 and Craig Kanada @ 100/1 With three small each way doubles as well :) Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: dealerFROMhell on July 17, 2007, 05:31:40 PM Lay Woods with a Yank. I've got some great odds on him in the past.

I've just read a quote from Furyk where he states that this is the softest links he's ever seen for an Open. If there's a little typical Scottish summer weather our Jim might regret saying that.... Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: jizzemm on July 18, 2007, 03:46:08 PM Montgomery @ 69-1
Darren Clarke @ 139-1 That will do, fancy Sergio, but a bit short at 32-1 Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Graham C on July 18, 2007, 04:34:42 PM My selections are Monty, Sergio, Poults and Zach Johnson

Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: JSRossi on July 19, 2007, 10:55:57 AM KJ always starts well..... unlikely to win though ...... in race horsing parlence he's one that best watched !!

Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Rooky9 on July 20, 2007, 09:41:04 AM will be interesting to see how the young irish amatuer comes on over the next two years. He currently has the best handicap in the world at +6!!
Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: JSRossi on July 20, 2007, 10:52:29 AM I like the thought that he would have to give shots to Tiger !!
Hope he gets over this little blip and keeps going into the weekend .... Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Graham C on July 20, 2007, 06:23:43 PM the boy did good today, well shame he was over par, but he's going to make the cut. Hope he does well too.
Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: doubleup on July 20, 2007, 09:39:45 PM hmmm looks like some blood was shed on Betfair in the market for the projected cut. I'm pretty sure that it was 70 and ties made the cut. For some reason the official site showed 71 and ties making the cut - this made it +5. In the tradition off offering free money some huge money became available i.e you could back the cut being +5 at 1.2 and bet up to £1k. Obviously some poor mugs will have taken up this offer only to find as usual that money is never free........ Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Karabiner on July 20, 2007, 10:39:53 PM Did anyone catch KJ Choi's classic post-game interview on BBC2 ?
The Scottish lady presenter asked him three questions each of which he answered with a total non secutor. I was in stitches rotflmfao Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: Jim-D on July 20, 2007, 10:59:31 PM Did anyone catch KJ Choi's classic post-game interview on BBC2 ? I keep losing bets so I layed off some for a nice profit either way but pick up a nicer amount for a Sergio win.

Glad I laid Sergio off yesterday, I'd have been well nervous all day then gutted! Small profit for the weekend which I'm very pleased with, usually it's a losing thing :D Title: Re: The Open Championship 2007 Post by: JSRossi on July 22, 2007, 08:49:01 PM I was on Padraig, but sadly at 28/1 not enough to recoup my losses from the countless other times i've backed him in majors without success !!
Well done Mr Harrington and thanks .... |
