Title: Skalies Supporters: Post by: taximan007 on July 16, 2007, 10:03:43 PM The achievement these past 6 days of Skalie is undoubtedly one of the finest of a British poker player in the last few years, if not the finest (considering the amount of entrants).
Whilst reading the reports of the tournament from the comfort of our homes, we read of unsavoury behaviour by some of the British fans!!! (True or not? I don’t know, we can only go by the accounts we read). So I make this plea to all of Skalies supporters out there in Vegas: Jon obviously appreciates all of your support; He undoubtedly wants you to be vociferous in your support. But at the same time he doesn’t want to be worrying about unruly behaviour by his supporters. Let’s not forget, this will probably be the most important time in Jon’s poker career, Let him concentrate, Let him play his game; Let him rip the table apart, which those of that know him know he is capable of. Let us read in the papers, magazines of the great final table of the 2007 World Series, and the MAGNIFICENT SUPPORT that SKALIE received from the British contingent, good humoured, and well behaved. TUESDAY/WEDNESAY 17/18 JULY 2007 is SKALIE DAY Those of you there can look back over the years and say I WAS THERE (for the right reasons): To Jon, I wish you well, I KNOW you have the game to BRING IT HOME, but most of all: ENJOY THE MOMENT: Taximan007 Title: Re: Skalies Supporters: Post by: Dingdell on July 16, 2007, 10:24:02 PM Shouldn't that be July? ;hide;

Title: Re: Skalies Supporters: Post by: tikay on July 17, 2007, 11:12:05 AM I spent a few hours with Jon today, & you will see several interviews & clips on Poker Week & Sky Poker very soon, & we will be interviewing him again on Wednesday. We've interviewed him daily since the start of the Main Event.
He's in great heart, not at all nervous, & totally confident of winning it. I believe he's the first blondeite to make a WSOP Main Event Final. Title: Re: Skalies Supporters: Post by: ariston on July 17, 2007, 11:46:55 AM 14-16 hour day with pressure of making final table and free beer being served= some noisy railbirds. They will behave during the final of course as they wont have been drinking for 12 hours+
also am I the only one to find it a bit strange that in the land of the whooping and hollering running around the room with chair on your head after knowcking someone out they are getting upset by someone in the audience using the f word and being a little drunk. I think its more than likely because he isnt a yank. If Kal was a yank his rail would be applauded for their support of him no doubt and it would just be put down to excitement. Title: Re: Skalies Supporters: Post by: NEVES on July 17, 2007, 11:56:35 AM ;) If he was a yank mmm there is somthing in that, fair comment
Title: Re: Skalies Supporters: Post by: kinboshi on July 17, 2007, 02:05:50 PM It's could be the case of cultural/language differences. We sort of speak the same language, but the way a group of Americans and a group of Brits talk - especially the 'banter', is very different. I've been told by Americans that they are amazed at how groups of Brits talk to each other. That to them it seems very confrontational and aggressive - even when it was just me and a group of my mates having a laugh as we would on any evening out. Of course, this is a generalisation, but maybe its part of it?
:dontask: Title: Re: Skalies Supporters: Post by: marcro on July 17, 2007, 02:15:18 PM I think that the use of repeated loud profanity is frowned on in any culture. The reputation of our soccer hooligans does not help this cause either.
