Title: Short Stack on the bubble Post by: Josedinho on July 20, 2007, 01:38:37 PM Quite new to poker but had a bit of success online - qualified for the Bolton Poker 6 and not been making alot of money but doing ok.
Just wanted to know what sort of hands i should be looking to push with when i'm short stacked. Played last night total chips = 175k 6 players left 5 are paid i have about 10k in chips. blinds were 600 - 1200 when i decided to push with Ahrt 6h but wondered if i could have waited or not? Welcome to blonde. As has been mentioned, position and relative stack sizes are key here. I'd be far more willing to push from the button after it's been folded round to me than pushing against larger stacks from UTG. Are you the shortest stack? The hand was folded to dealer who made the minimum raise to 3200 SB called and i pushed. Dealer called SB folded (he was 2nd in chips and just called the first bet for value.)
The dealer had 8s 8c flop came 3h 4d 5s turn 8d river Tc Title: Re: Short Stack on the bubble Post by: The_Diamond on July 22, 2007, 03:32:48 AM I think it would have been perfectly fine to shove had the SB not called but once he does I think you're better off just binning your hand as you'll almost certainly ber called in atleast one spot and often by a much better hand. Generally try to avoid pushing with Ace rag unless you're first in from the small blind or a bit more desperate from other positions.
