Title: Staff appraisals Post by: Dingdell on July 21, 2007, 12:48:03 PM Hi - I want to introduce staff appraisals for my very large workforce of 1.....
Have no idea what to put on the form, I want them to fill one out and I do the same and then we go through them together. Does anyone have any experiences of this? Is there a source for forms (or one I can steal from somewhere?) Thanks Tracey Title: Re: Staff appraisals Post by: TightEnd on July 21, 2007, 12:54:19 PM Google for forms for a process called "360 degree feedback"
It was introduced by a lot of HR departments in the last 15 years, sounds like what you need...ie they feedback on you, you feedback on them More useful than a one way convo.... Title: Re: Staff appraisals Post by: madasahatstand on July 21, 2007, 12:55:51 PM Tracey
firstly, just set out what it is your company does on paper. Then set out what you want the employee to do to contribute to the overall success of the company. Then you basically score them and analyse areas for improvement. ie if they have been rude to a customer then thats an area for improvement. ill see if i can find any tools online mad Title: Re: Staff appraisals Post by: madasahatstand on July 21, 2007, 12:56:34 PM Google for forms for a process called "360 degree feedback" It was introduced by a lot of HR departments in the last 15 years, sounds like what you need...ie they feedback on you, you feedback on them More useful than a one way convo.... good idea and you could even get your customers to contribute Title: Re: Staff appraisals Post by: Dingdell on July 21, 2007, 01:00:58 PM Fantastic - thanks so much - this forum is so useful......now if I can just find someone to do my ironing I'm all sorted! ;D

Anytime I have been involved in 360 feedback its involved at least groups of 4 people. You should devise your own appraisal form based on the skills relevent to your own business and ask you employee to write in each section how they performed against any set targets you may have set for them, also ask them to identify areas for development. In turn after reading what they have put together it may be worth you writing up your thoughts and then have a discussion on it. I think staff appraisal is more valuable in smaller companies than it is with bigger companies. What you find with larger organisations is these areas normally become a paper excercise and dependent on the frequency of the appraisals it becomes de-valued and more often than not a copy and paste job. |
