When did that happen?

And why?

I guess as it was when still alive, the death of one of the early forums is cared about as much.

What is 1808 gang? I googled for it and found a site that hadn't been updated since 2005..

never heard of em.

It was one of the forums that sprang out of the friendship and rivalry there used to be on the tribeca site.

They tried ( and failed) to compete with the all powerful MMM Mob, although they did have as members a player or two of note (gregior,  moorman, pab, hectorjelly, geeah, portfolio (even FUGU!) - all fish, but LUCKY fish) and lots of current blondes used to post on their forum, myself included, from flushy to M3boy to Ginger to Pffa and many others.

At its height, it had an excellent forum run by a very talented lad ( and good poker player) sparky and the amicable rivalry with the MMM mob members made tribeca a very fun place to play poker.

Porty, if you read this , what happened to Raymundo. The great one is gone but not forgotten...

I remember Raymundo, American if it's who I'm thinking of, tremendous fun to play with.

Yeh raymundo was a legend. Couldnt string a sentence together without throwing in a 15 syllable word and treated every poker game like it was a battle for honour and dignity.

Playing online with him was brilliant fun, he lit up every table he was on with his witty wordmanship.

Ah yes, dear old 1808.

I noticed the forum was gone a couple of days ago but tbh I hadn't visited the once loved forum, for months.

I was indeed an 1808'er too, back in the very early days. I believe I was first female (big thing at the time) to get player of the month, and I then defected across to MMM within weeks  :D causing quite a stir in the process!

Going back 6 months or so - could be much longer, it was rumoured that Barney had gotten Raymundo to agree to play some sort of league games. Don't think it ever happened though.

The 1808 was one of the first of the poker fora, and could have been huge with the right guidance. But, sadly it was plagued with problems (think rakeback issues ect) Sad to see it finally close.

RIP 1808.

also RIP overthegun. sad seeing that 1 go...esp since 1808 crushed (pwnd even) the mob there!!

Talking of overthegun, does anyone have contact with Geeah? I've not seen him on MSN for yonks and would love to get my hands on the code for the site.

I remember when Raymundo first registered one of the first run ins he had was with flushy...loads of "you fish"..."oh man do you know I had postion".."f*ck off I'm a pilot" comments. I was railbirding and convinced then to sit with $100 HU..fishboy then proceeded to rape raymundo with outrageously bad hands and thereafter they became lovers, (well  online bum chums).
Besides Ray's eloquence I seem to remember he was always "gotta go - dinner at the Guggenheim" or "the Clintons want me over - see you later"....
