Title: Blackjack v Roulette
Post by: mjrevie on July 31, 2007, 04:49:42 PM
Probably not right place but here goes

Your given 100£ free bet. You are allowed to play Roulette or Blackjack, you have to put the £100 on a single bet. After, you get the profit or win nothing. Which would people go for?

In most circumstances the even chances on roulette offer the smallest house edge in British casinos. However, if you have the skill and opportunity to 'Wong it' then you can make a bet with positive expectation on blackjack.

As the bet is free then the right thing to do is put it on the biggest possible return as the negative aspect is zero. You aren't taking a long term view just a one off proposition, so value becomes relative ie: the best value is the biggest return. i suggest number 18 although there is no hard and fast rule as to which number to choose.

18 - what an amateur.  Obviously 23.

Now that is spooky.  23 is the number that rules my sisters life, for all sorts of reasons, and would have been my second choice. (Cue x-files music)

being a pretty methodical gambler I would stick the £100 on either red or black on the roulette, you are just under even money to be £100 better off.
