Title: Sky HD Boxes...
Post by: Teacake on July 31, 2007, 07:27:36 PM
...are they any good?

They are offering me one for 199GBP plus 30 quid installation & 10er a month HD subscription.

Is this a decent offer or are there better options for a similar price?

Janets dad just forked out for a 42" HD flat screen and the Quality really is Sh1t hot mate, if you have the TV already may as well upgrade your sky package to the HD version xx

PS did you back that horse today....what a shout eh!

HD is a little over priced - its best features are all the same as sky plus, given that there arent that many channels in full HD. Having said that the football season is probably when it makes its mark. Not sure how long they can keep the price so high - I'd say 100 plus the extra tenner a month would be more realistic.

Cheers guys, might hold off a wee bit, as Rooky says there aren't that many HD channels at the mo, can't see Setanta Sports doing one anytime soon  ;D

Glad you like the avi, Mad  ;)

Not true, i can get the boxes A LOT cheaper than this, I would hold off as i would expect the price for Sky HD to drop quite a bit very soon.

I had HD for about 6/7 months now, and to be honest I would not bother.. Yes footy and Nature programs are shit hot, but for the extra £10 a month, it needs more channells... I managed to get it for free last Xmas, currys did an offer when buying a tv just paying for install..

I will be getting rid of subscription when the 12 months is up not enough channells.

I dont mind the £200 purchase price, but I do object to paying £10 a month on top of the £55 I pay now.    Until they offer it free (monthly) to subcribers of their premium channels I'm not going to bother.

Nah I got sky Multi and HD for +20quid more a month, sky+ features with HD are free.

I would recommend HD to anyone, my 50inch Sony picture so so much better. Two full time sports channels, BBC and some nature/history ones I feel its worth it.

Yes.   Sky no longer charge for the Sky+ facility, in the past it has been free for people who have premium channels, which is what I expect them to do for HD in time....

You dont need to pay the extra £10 per month to receive the BBC HD channels, they are free to air.
