Title: Games By Mail Post by: scotty2hatty on August 01, 2007, 08:14:20 PM Anyone ever indulged in the football manager by e-mail?
I was being nostalgic the other week thinking about my early teens when I used to play by post and stumbled across the same company still going online. Was delighted. And as a bonus it only costs 50p a turn (week) if you play by e-mail as opposed to mail. I've taken over Southampton in one of the games where the 2nd season is just starting, and tbh its immense. Great value. And a lot of interaction on the boards. http://www.gamesbyemail.co.uk/ Have a nosey and if anyone is interested in joining up let me know so I can you the right e-mail to contact as opposed to filling out the form on the site cos its much quicker. Hopefully get a few people in the same game, I know there are 10 teams available in the Championship in my game. The one I was in was run by some guy in Nottingham on his Atari ST.
For a PBEM league to be worth paying for, it would have to be spectacularly good - CM has us all spoiled. I agree CM and more recently FM are tremendous games and I play FM for hours on end but PBEM offers something completely different in that manager interaction makes the game highly enjoyable. That for me makes PBEM games stand out and I'm having a great time at the moment trying to persuade some Premiership managers to sell me their players. This one in particular imo is amazing with great value for the 50p, and its free to recieve the first turn. In other news I got my first turn of the season today and lost 2-0 away to newly promoted Millwall, whilst drawing my second fixture 0-0 with Sheff Wed. Not happy. There is a brand new game starting on the 9th of January - I've requested the mighty Blackburn Rovers for it. I'm sure some guys on here would really enjoy it. If anyone wants to see what you get for your weekly turn then send me a PM and I can let you see the PDF files you receive. www.gamesbymail.co.uk - don't let the old school website put you off.
