Title: Studio 60 on the sunset strip
Post by: boldie on August 03, 2007, 09:14:59 PM
watched the first episode of this last night. Matthew Perry in the lead (together with one of the guys that was in the West Wing) created by Aaron Sorkin who wrote the West Wing and therefore you know it's going to be a fast paced intelligent dialogue. Absolutely loved the first episode so was hoping it would run for a long time on More4, now I find out NBC is probably going to cancel it ...not a happy bunny. It's up against CSI miami in the states and can't compete with that for ratings ..blah I hate it when networks cancel shows because people can't follow intelligent dialogue and would prefer some monotoned "actor" putting on his shades in every episode in a crime series.

This finished it's full current run a few weeks ago, and as yet it isn't listed as yet for a return next season. Such a shame because, as you say it's one of the more intelligent shows from over the pond.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

grrrr...I just cant stand the guy.

My wife loves the CSI miami (where as I much prefer the original and new york) so I stay out of the room untill 5 minutes before the end when I come in and have a bet with her about whether he puts his shades on at the end and looks "cool" in the closing shot or not. whoever loses does the cooking the next day...I hardly ever have to cook :)

It was cancelled 5 or 6 episodes into the first series, then moved to a different time slot to air the rest of the series.
The big american studios have little patience when it comes to viewing figures with many series lasting only a handful of episodes before the axe coming.
Traveler, Drive, firefly and even star trek never lasted long.
Flushy put me on to studio 60, i liked it, very intelligent show with some obscure humour, shame it's gone.
