I want to get to the £125,000 question with no life-lines and no idea what the answer is to see if I have the balls to go for it or not!

I have made a good few attempts to get on Millionaire and been called back a couple of times but fluffed the tie-break question.

Millionaire has always been run as a lottery with the prize being a seat on the show. It is rather curious having auditions and a lottery running side-by-side.  A bit like having a poker tourny where some players have to buy-in and play their way through to the final. Wheras other just pass an audition to go straight to the final table with no buy-in.

I suspect all this is because that the income from the telephone/internet entries has largely dried up.  And also that the Gambling Commision is likely to rule that this type of lottery is illegal in the near future which would destroy the principle of the show. If the show is done without the income  stream from from the telephone/internet lottery it would seem very unlikely they would be able to pay out prizes at the rate they have done in the past.

done...I will probably the first one to use up all their lifelines before getting to 1k and then getting to 64k :)

I have tried before and answered the application questions right but i think they are quite ageist- dont think they choose anyone under 35!!!!

My neighbour actually got on the show, she didnt get into the chair but she was close on the fastest finger bit.

Must be awful actually getting on the show, but then not getting in the chair....

You got 6 seconds (i think).  I never got through on both occasions. Hope I have better luck this way....

Dam hard to google it. You don't know exactly when they are going to call (don't know if you could ask them to call back at a 'suitable time'), and when they do, you have only got 6 seconds from the time the question finishes to give your answer.

I think for the bridge I said 2500, for the miles of coastlne in the north sea, I guessed at 10,000. Most probably miles out...

true they would catch me out aswell to be honest...well if I'm at home I could run to the pc..and feck em at work I'd google it there :)..atleast now I have a useless fact to bother people with though :)

Jus had a voicemail off them! Couldnt answer the call, take the voicemail and its such such from 'who wants to be a millionaire', said she'll ring back within 4 days! Will keep you posted...

I got nothing..not surprising though..Auditions are in Glasgow and they probably wants someone who represent Glasgow..you know..buildt like a Flat jockey, no teeth and with a bottle of Backfast in one hand and a knife in the other ;)

Anyone else got an audition?  Okok this is blatent chirping, I just had a phone call and was crapping it waiting for the question that I was bound to get wrong as feeling rather "fuzzy" today, but to my delight, no questions yet.  Just an invite to an audition next Tuesday in Nottingahm hehe. 

I asked the lady the format for the audition and she said it was firstly a pen a paper jobby, 10 multilple choice general knowledge questions and then 10 mins or so chatting to the producers so they can eye you up.  Dont sound too hard to me, how the hell do you swot for something like this?  Gotta just hope that my plethora of useless information suddenly becomes usefull!!!

Was this the first you heard from them about it?  Or had they contacted you previously?

Actually I just remembered, she did indeed ask me a question before I was invited to the audtion:

Lady:  "Hello, is that Maria Demetriou?"
Me:  "Err Yeah!"
Lady:  "Im calling from Who Wants to be a Millionaire.."
Me:  "Oh really?"
Lady:  "Yes, I know it was a while ago that you applied, but can you talk?"
Me:  "Yes, of course"
Lady:  "Can I ask if you filled in the online application form yourself?"
Me:  "YES i did"
Lady:  "Would you come for an audition then on Tuesday the 18th?"

I have just filled in the form online and at then end it says that if you do not hear from them with 28 days then assume the worst!!!

I'm sure it also states that if you're not young, good-lucking and female then your chances are reduced by a factor of 100.

Oh yeah, sorry bout that Celtic.  The chips went to my head and I went into bully mode.  If you refer to having lessons as in "how to be a complete luckbox?"  Then yes I subscribed to it just before that comp.

Well, went for the audition this evening in Chester grosvesnor. Answered about 7 out of 10 questions right I think, 2 I didnt have a clue on... Then had a nice mugshot taken then a quick interview, will hopefully receive a call in the next month!
