Is it a good idea to spend the extra £100-200 to get a laptop with Core2Duo/Core2/Hardcore2duo/whatever it's called?
Does a decent non-integrated graphics card make a big difference? Could you ever expect to play a decent 3D game on a non-hardcore laptop?
On the Dell website there are 4 laptops in the range, some have a 1 year warranty, others a 90 day, why do they do this? Did they make a bad batch? lol

Totally unrelated tech question: What does 'Message delivered to 'x'' mean on a mobile phone? Is that 'read by person' or 'delivered to network'?

No idea on laptops, however message delivered normally means it has reached the recipients phone but does not indicate it has been read.

That lappy looks ok to me Kin, Aldi do do some decent stuff - cheap but decent.
I guess it boils down to that age old question, what do you want to do with your lappy?  If it's just play poker and surf the next, dual core is way overkill, but it'll do anything with ease and style

I know they do some good stuff.  Got myself a wire-stripper at the weekend.  Only £2.99.

My friend once bought a pair of flippers from Aldi .  When he opened them after getting home he found one flipper was a slightly different shape.  He was more than happy as his left foot is narrower than the right due to a childhood accident, Aldi staff are clearly brilliant at providing expert foot care.  The Yellow yogurts are tasty as well.

Depends. If you're planning on doing little more than surf/email/poker then probably not. Gaming, it would.

To gaming, yes. Having said that my laptop has an integrated Intel 915 128MB card and the kids are more than happy using it to play LAN Halo 2 and Lego Star Wars. Don't know if it would stand up to the very latest games though.


They usually do the 90 day trick to make stuff look as good value as possible. You can usually downgrade the 1 year to make it cheaper. I've always done that and been prepared to rely on the Sale of Goods Act if required.
