Title: Cash game hand
Post by: Tragic on August 07, 2007, 03:47:24 PM
I have been reraising the opponent alot and generally winning pots from him, think he is a bit annoyed about it. Anyway he's desperate to trap me so I can't put him on a J on the flop. I decide to represent the JAck myself by calling and then being forced to bet out when the flush draw comes down to protect my hand. So he calls on the turn and the river pops down. I have nothing so I bet out, and he reraises me. Wtf is this reraise, completely rules out a Jack or you imagine he would just call, this is either a monster or some weird bluff where he thinks I fold a lot of hands he can't actually beat, flush draws, pairs and the like, or is that wishful thinking. What the hell can he have here...time to give up?

I don't know why, but something is screaming low pocket pair, maybe even 3's, but anything up to 7's.

I dont know, but its too epensive to find out. You have to win a massive % of the time to make this play work, let him win pissing contest round 1.

Annoying how two people actually got this right...

Scruff: raises to £477.85 and is all-in
Pompey010: calls £305.85
----- SHOW DOWN -----
Scruff: shows [ 6s 7s] (A Pair of Jacks, Eight high)
Pompey010: shows [ 3d  3h] (A Full House, Threes full of Jacks)
Pompey010 collected £1029.70 from Main pot
----- SUMMARY -----
Total pot £1032.70 Main pot £1029.70 Rake £3
Board [ 2s  Jh  Jd  8d  3s]
Seat 1: FlynD folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 2: Pompey010 (button) showed [3d 3h] and won (£1029.70) with A Full House, Threes full of Jacks
Seat 3: Slam_dunk (small blind) folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 4: Scruff (big blind) showed [6s 7s] and lost with A Pair of Jacks, Eight high
Seat 5: Fleecer55 folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 6: smygarama folded before Flop (didn't bet)

I got a bit caught up with my gut feeling on the river here, and immediately after the pot I actually typed "sick" in the chatbox. Kinda annoyed that I failed to adjust my tack after it became clear one of the last two cards had really helped a player who would not reraise me on the river with nothing in a million years. Good to have a reminder that you have to let them win the pissing contests sometimes as Alex said :).

why oh why did you call this bet on the river for £300 of real money with 7 high? I am utterly flaggergasted that you call this.

To be fair, when he re-raised to £172, after your raise of £56 ( which was good ) and then you went all in, that was a bad move imho.

Your moving over the top of him with 7 high, after he's raised your amount over three times you must have known he had a hand.

Even if you were sure he didnt, and you thought all he was doing was making a play at you, you still cant push with 7 high, there was no way he was putting £172 out there and not protecting it.

IMHO, internet poker is all too easy to click a mouse button when the adrenelin is pumping.

Better luck next time dude :)

if you are going to float the flop, you must check raise the turn..If i was pompey id be putting you on AQ, 44, 55 etc and id be raising your bet on on the turn.

As it happens, you were unlucky he caught. But god knows what the river re raise is all about, rush of blood to the head it seems.
