Post by: Sark79 on August 10, 2007, 10:17:43 AM Why do we press the button for the lift or when crossing the road repeatedly thinking it is going to work faster? The lift will arrive at same time regardless of how many times you press the button.
Title: Re: Why? Post by: kinboshi on August 10, 2007, 10:58:21 AM In fact many lifts have an 'anti-vandal' feature, where if a button is pressed many times in succession, or if lots of buttons are selected, the system disregards these presses completely.
So pressing a lift button lots of times can actually slow it down. Title: Re: Why? Post by: Sark79 on August 10, 2007, 11:22:50 AM Why do we press the lift button loads of time when we know it will actually slow it down? :D
Title: Re: Why? Post by: kinboshi on August 10, 2007, 11:42:19 AM Why do I press the Sky+ remote lots of times when it seems to hang? It doesn't speed things up for me, it usually ends up doing the same thing dozens of times and I have to sit there and wait whilst it recovers from my multiple requests.
Doh! Title: Re: Why? Post by: fearisthekey on August 10, 2007, 11:50:59 AM Why do we press the lift button loads of time when we know it will actually slow it down? :D lol, like it.... And why does the "end program now" messageon a PC actually NOT end the program when you click the "yes" button.? |
