Title: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: tikay on August 11, 2007, 12:18:36 PM As allluded to elswherere, we've added a Sports Betting section to the blonde cardrooom. It's here. https://blondesports.hansagaming.com/ It's a new toy, so we will have a "soft launch" until we all know exactly how it works & everything. But as the Betting Tips & Sports discussion Board is so lively, we are hoping that it may be a), of interest, & b), generate some fun, & c), make a little money. Much of it is American-orientated, but it has British Football & other stuff, Golf, Tennis, so it may get some business. In my Betting days (long-gone) I'd have been very interested in an American-Based "book" making markets on British Events, as there's always chance of a bit of good value here & there. I'm actually tempted to have a little flutter on it. Once we've sorted it out properly, we'll get someone to keep an eye on it, run it properly, in the way that Kev runs the cardroom, & hopefully, they will keep us all informed of any value bets or dodgy prices. It's never gonna be a big thing, betfair & William Hill can sleep soundly, but if it provides a bit of fun, & earns a few bob, it all helps to run blonde, so any action you give will be appreciated. Perhaps someone with a better knowledge than me of current betting markets could take a look, comment generally, & let us know if there is any value to be had in there. In fact, I've just thought of an idea for a Competition - give me 10 minutes! Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: Robert HM on August 11, 2007, 12:22:39 PM Just had a peek, I like the idea of winners of SnGs getting a free bet.
Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: tikay on August 11, 2007, 12:30:58 PM Our Sports Betting Book is obviously a bolt-on generic skin, so we make no special claims to it being super-special-lovely-wonderful in gushy PR terms. It's not. it's just another Sports Betting Book. But write up a review of it. Not glowy-gushy about it, just an honest, "I like this about it, I dislike that about it, it's a pile of poo, it's the best thing since sliced bread, whatever. How easy or hard it is to use, to Deposit or withdraw cash, to navigate the site, where it contains good or bad value, anything, everything, good & bad. Try & find a decent value price to highlight & also spot the worst value in there. The Comp will be open for a week, & we'll give a free $50 bet to the best entry. And a $10 free bet to the next best 5 entries. No strings attached, it is what it says. Hopefully we'll only get 3 entries, I gotta watch the pennies here, see? Put your entries on this thread, please. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: ifm on August 11, 2007, 12:58:46 PM Just had a peek, I like the idea of winners of SnGs getting a free bet. Shame it started on the first of july :D I actually dislike the idea, i don't gamble (well aside from poker) and something like this will in a way force people like me to gamble. There is a specific reason i still don't know how to fill out a betting slip and i fully intend to keep it that way. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: tikay on August 11, 2007, 01:24:53 PM Just had a peek, I like the idea of winners of SnGs getting a free bet. After much deliberation, we decided nobody will be forced to use it. ;) Seriously, there are Sports Books left right & centre, some folks use them, some don't. This is just one more, but some blondes do enjoy Sports Betting, & I'm quite sure if they spot some value prices on our book, they'll use it. And if they don't, they won't. So it may be handy for a few blondes, & yes, it may make a few bob. And it may not. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: UpTheMariners on August 11, 2007, 01:34:55 PM i think what would be a good idea is if you offered odds on players to win online mtt's on blonde. Could really find a bit of value there....

So i either turn down free money or i use it and am dragged kicking and screaming into the murky underworld that is gambling. I was referring to the promotion not the sportsbook, i have never used one. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: boldie on August 11, 2007, 02:14:58 PM so sell your free bet :)

Firsty, it's incredibly difficult to find unless you log in to the poker room. I can't find a link to it anywhere on the blonde site but perhaps I haven't looked well enough. Secondly, well, secondly will come once I find the site :D Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: ifm on August 11, 2007, 02:50:41 PM You can always not place the free bet, you'd not lose anything by not doing it. :tikay: Firsty, it's incredibly difficult to find unless you log in to the poker room. well apart from there :D Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: ifm on August 11, 2007, 02:56:58 PM I'm sure it'll appear in one of the menu's soon.
Would you ignore free money though? Doubt i could. Articles & Banners linking to it wil be up in 24 hours, please bear with us. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: Graham C on August 11, 2007, 03:08:35 PM Of course I wouldn't ignore the free bet, but then I don't have a problem betting. I know my limits and know that I won't be gambling with money I can't afford to lose. The same goes for poker with me though, all in moderation :) I think I may have to try some more stt's on blonde for the free bets :D
With regards to the site, I haven't had a look comparing odds to other sites, but as it's a skin of another site, I guess they are fair enough. There's not anything to dislike about the site. It's easy enough to navigate and once you've chosen your market, it's easy enough to select a bet and see what odds you are being offered. On the downside, there aren't many markets there. I would have thought you are missing out by not having first goalscorer in the football, sorry, soccer markets. In fact there's no sub markets such as correct score etc that would be popular I'm sure. These are favourites with punters and there's a missed opportunity there. Other than that, looks ok. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: ifm on August 11, 2007, 03:45:03 PM Of course I wouldn't ignore the free bet, but then I don't have a problem betting. LOL i don't have a problem betting, just don't WANT a problem.......... I had a pal (loosely expressed as he stitched me up) that won £82k in the bookies last October, by mid January of this year he had borrowed £60k and lost that too (on top of the £82k). He ended up conning a few lads for double glazing etc. and borrowed £70k off his best mate (his mom had died and he sold her house). Anyway he did a runner from all the gangsters a few months back, actually they cought up with him a couple of weeks back in Bolton of all places, living in a squat with his girlfriend and 2 kids. There is no moral to this story and TBH it relates to me or sportsbooks in no particular way. Just thought it was an interesting tale of a once successful businessman reduced to nothing through a compulsive personality. There is no moral to this story and TBH it relates to me or sportsbooks in no particular way. Just thought it was an interesting tale of a once successful businessman reduced to nothing through a compulsive personality. That is a sorry tale Ian, & I see your point. But poker's no different, it's gambling whether we wanna admit it or not. I know at least four very well-lnown guys on the poker circuit who are equally addicted to poker, & have lost, between them, over £500,000, most of which they begged & borrowed off other players, & only some of which may get repaid, even though, in 3 of the 4 cases, the intention to repay is genuine. Poker, in that respect, is gambling, pure & true gambling, but we are all grown-ups, & we have to be sensible how we handle our money, & our addiction - & for most of us it is an addiction - to poker. It's what troubles me most about poker, these "super-nippers", but there are good guys too, & it's caveat emptor when we walk into a Casino. My pockets are firmly stitched up, & I've long since stopped loaning money to pokerists. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: Graham C on August 11, 2007, 04:13:53 PM I know someone that owes over £45k to an online casino due to playing roulette, but I don't think I'm likely to go the same way nor would I let it put me off playing roulette should I get the urge. It's only a free bet we're talking about, if you feel that strongly about it, don't use the free bet if you currently play stt's on blonde and if you don't play the stt's, then it's not even a problem you have to consider.
I hope your mate gets himself sorted, it not a nice thing to be going through. Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: ifm on August 11, 2007, 04:18:41 PM I hope your mate gets himself sorted, it not a nice thing to be going through. Not a mate anymore! He'll never be sorted in the way you might wish, almost certainly in another way, but that was just another gamble he took on and lost eh? Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: Nem on August 12, 2007, 04:36:21 PM Looks good. Congratulations.
Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: tikay on August 12, 2007, 04:50:40 PM Looks good. Congratulations. Why thank you Mr Nem Sir. I just need some inspiration to make a bet now. Spurs to win something, maybe? Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: The_duke on August 12, 2007, 05:24:03 PM Looks Ok -- Odds are fairly Ok (Ireland to win Rugby WC) 19/1 (william hill 14/1) -- Would use it selectively to assess odds etc -- as previously mentioned it is a bit sparse at the mo (internal sports breakdown) but hey its a bit of fun and we are all adults when it comes to betting (ie we can make choices). My particular choice with 77 last night was NOT good
Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: The_duke on August 12, 2007, 05:36:20 PM tried to register -- it told me that my email already exists -- please explain -- does that mean I am registered already to a sister Sports book or do I have to provide a different on to the existing blonde one -- very confused

Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: The_duke on August 12, 2007, 07:34:12 PM tried that failed -- running out of email addresses -- only have 12 -- but i had the same problem on Blue Sq -- it seems to know i have accounts elsewhere -- creepy
Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: reenot on August 12, 2007, 08:25:55 PM It's well worth the free bet, saw the thread this morning so had a free $20 bet on Chelsea to win this afternoon using the online claim form. Just checked my account £11.53 for free, Only got 1.27 for Chelsea to win but you also get the stake money back!!! How good is that!!! Can't wait to use my other 2 free bets!!
Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: reenot on August 18, 2007, 10:52:42 AM I think one link to the sportsbook on the BPR software is enough two is over doing it. And now I cant just click the link to the forum.
Please bring back the link to the forum it is a right pain having to open IE then go to favourites then click the link!!!! Title: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: steeveg on November 07, 2007, 03:43:45 PM i think what would be a good idea is if you offered odds on players to win online mtt's on blonde. Could really find a bit of value there.... i think mariners has raised a very good point,i back reglular online and have accounts with all the big bookmakers online, the reason i have all these accounts is because the betting sites have becone very competitve, theres special offers everyday with alot of the bookmakers, its like gong to the supermarket and picking the best deals online,so blonde betting site has to come up with something the other sites are not offering to compete, only 2 or 3 bookies who offer odds on other poker tournaments besides wsop, so blonde could start offering odds on a few tournaments we all have an interest following, just 1 step in the right diection, who knows could be the start of something big as there is a hole in the market for this type of bettingTitle: Re: Sports Betting on blonde Post by: Graham C on November 07, 2007, 04:41:23 PM It's only a skin of a large bookmakers, not sure they can get into creating their own markets, or if they'd even want too.
