Congrats Dana ;applause;...(must get qualifying too!) My tip is Joe Grech.... seems to be running well at present. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: AlexMartin on August 11, 2007, 02:01:45 PM Ok, get the tips in. Pick ur 3 and claim top bragging rights if they all make the final table.
Ian Woodley- he's a rude **** but he plays in the spirit of the game, knows how to generate action and can lay a hand down. Joe Grech- If anyone can luckbox a win its him, someone told me of his run of outdraws in the 500 event, sick. Pretty gd player too when he's focused. Ben Turnstill- Might be a donktard without patience but can play great poker at times and has the heart to go for the win. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: KarmaDope on August 11, 2007, 03:12:31 PM Well, I'm kinda cheating, being here and all, but my 3 picks are:
Kevin O'Leary - Lovejoy's playing brilliantly so far, and he's due a massive win. Paul Kemp - The unknown. Breezed onto the scene by winning a pub league and then cashing in his first main event. Managed to royally piss off Nick Slade yesterday, sending him on tilt. Chris Bruce - Running well in these events, and is one to watch out for. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Graham C on August 11, 2007, 03:13:25 PM ;goodluck; Rookie
Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Djinn on August 11, 2007, 03:19:44 PM Hi Updaters! I just caught Dana's coattails sweeping out the door when I got up groggily this morning, hope you're enjoying your Luton foray...
I will pick three more who haven't been mentioned yet: Richard Ashby - I think it was two GUKPT's ago that he was robbed around the bubble and played like he deserved to win Willie Tann - I saw a picture of him looking awake on Day One - that must be a sign Nik Persaud - Don't squeeze play with A7 this time and you might make the final I have already been outside in the warm sunshine and decided that it's much better in the permanent dusk of the living room. Will be watching. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: AMJ2006 on August 11, 2007, 03:23:08 PM any details on prize structure please
Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Dry em on August 11, 2007, 03:34:49 PM It's about time Sunny had his hands hold up after playing so well without much reward in Vegas - my fingers are crossed for him in this one
Also Pryian - the man is on fire at the moment and is certainly capable of going the distance if the cards fall his way (which they usually do...) Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: danafish on August 11, 2007, 03:36:58 PM Morning all! I am arrived in Luton, post dreary train journey and a McDonalds breakfast with Floppy in central Luton, where they seem to have installed a crap carousel and a heavily amplified rapper in the street as if to celebrate the sunshine or the McDonalds itself.
Thanks to Mr Jon Raab we are all set up with wireless internet and beepy let-us-through-the-doors cards that make me feel like a spy but make Floppy feel like a supermarket checkout girl. Colchester Kev or what's left of him has just now wandered into the press room with a laptop, so expect updating mayhem. Play resumes at 4; I'm nipping out for a cigarette. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 11, 2007, 03:38:27 PM Here's the new seating plan. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: danafish on August 11, 2007, 04:35:06 PM BREAKING NEWS
Isabelle Durr, more accustomed to being on the updating end of these events than sat at the tables, has just doubled up with a monstrous hand. Up against one D Tanna, she flopped a set of sevens, only to find that her opponent had flopped a king-high flush, only to river quads and take down the pot. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 11, 2007, 04:41:12 PM Michael Muldoon re-raised an UTG David Martin Raise from 3k to 12k, he then proceeded to try and talk Martin into calling but ended up getting him to fold, which actually might have been his plan..
Nik Persaud talking about a previous hand saying people don't think he ever has anything, raises to 3.2k. Iwan Jones moves all-in next to him for 17.2k total. Passed to Nik who instantly calls with Aspades Kd. Iwan shows Ahrt Ad. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 11, 2007, 05:41:38 PM Glenn Altman has just knocked out Gary Chapman after the latter pushed with J-x on a K-J-K-J-x board, shame Glenn was holding A-K.
Paul Jackson just passed Jacks to a biggish re-raise all-in on a Tc 8c 6d board, he correctly deduced his opponent was holding overcards with clubs. Brett Davies showed him Ac Qc. Kevin O'Leary raises to 4,100 in the cut-off. Sunny Chattha makes it 15,000 from the blinds to take it down. Finally, there's a raise in early position, Alan Vinson re-raises to 25k in the cut-off before Ian Herbert pushes for what looks like 40k more from the button. The blinds are the OR fold, Alan Vinson re-checks his card and we get a glimpse of Ac Kh which he passes. Ian Woodley states, "Kings, minimum." Just want to say thanks to everyone for all the messages and texts yesterday, it really boosts you when you know people want you to do well and are right on your side. I really really really enjoyed it, and although i was disappointed to go out on the very last level of the day, I know i didnt do anything wrong all day, I proved something to myself .... that I have a "game" to play these events but i dont have the bankroll to compete on a regular basis. It certainly is sooooooo much different to play rather than report on or watch from the rail .... thats why this bloody game is so addictive LOL. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: danafish on August 11, 2007, 06:19:32 PM Witnessed a vast hand between Priyan De Mel and Kevin O'Leary. On a 3s 2c Qs flop, Priyan bet 7.5k. Kevin raised it another 11k, Priyan called.
Turn - Ahrt - Priyan checks, and Kevin throws enough chips in to cover Priyan, who folds pretty promptly, showing the Qc. Priyan down to about 42k; Kevin O'Leary now has many chips, interestingly stacked (see before and after pics below). Priyan moves in from the small blind next hand, but finds no callers. Muldoon ponders for not nearly as long as he should before calling with his mighty 2c 5c which is obviously well behind Willie's 6c 6d. As the board is dealt, Willie looks at Michael and says, honestly confounded as well as delighted, "What are you doing?" Michael can only giggle - looks like that 9.6k was a fairly decent chunk of his stack. Eventually he sighs, "Well, at least they were suited" as the 7d 2s 8s Jc Js board offers not enough help and the chips are pushed Willie's way. "Would you like a photo of the man who doubled up Willie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450) Tann (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450)?" he says to me. He just knocked out David Martin (we think) with Jacks vs Ace King, rivering quads. We suspect he's the first one over 200k. Shortly after rivering quads for probably the chip lead, he ran pocket queens into Jan Magnus Brevik's pocket kings in a 75k pot. Sounds painful, doesn't it? It probably was, although Nik is still doing just fine on about 140k. Please enjoy the assortment of photographs of his ever-changing, but always beautifully arranged, chipstack. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: danafish on August 11, 2007, 08:57:57 PM Happy double-up time for Thomas Dunwoodie - he shamelessly pushed with aces preflop and got a call from Brett Davies and his pocket nines. Action shot also featuring my favourite could-have-been-in-the-Lord-of-the-Rings dealer, and one of the apparently-not-too-bothered-either-way-but-probably-screaming-with-joy-on-the-inside winner.

Sunny Chattha checked a 7h 8c 5h flop for Rookie to move in for 23.5k, eliciting a few comments from the table regarding the cheerful recklessness with which he'd been playing for a while it seems. "I get called, I'll slow down," said he. Sunny eventually folded, showing 7d.

"You know I'm not going to be making a move on you," says Adam. "We've played a lot of poker together," says Priyan, in what is actually somehow quite a heartwarming exchange, "and this is the first time I've ever reraised you. I believe you're massive." Eventually Wilkinson folds, showing Tc. The camaraderie continues though, Wilkinson saying he was also holding the Jc for the inside straight and Priyan admitting to pocket jacks. They could have been in the trenches together. It was beautiful, really. Rough chip counts: Sunny Chattha -- 45k Prian De Mel -- 87k Adam Stonham -- 60k (Just had to laydown AJ to a re-raise all-in) Chris Bruce -- 70k ish David Lloyd raises to 10k, Michael Muldoon makes it 40k, Ian gives it 'the full Woodley' before moving all-in for about 70k, "I wanna win this thing Willie." David Lloyd passes, Muldoon calls. Muldoon: Ahrt Kd Woodley: Ac Kc Flop: 7c 9c 5d "Come on dealer!" Turn: Td River: Qd Muldoon, "I hoped you might have Ace Queen." Woodley, "Ace Queen???!!!!!" The force of Ian's reply completely broke my indignation-o-meter. Lloyd (who passed Aspades Ks), "You wished you did have Ace Queen, you'd have won." Muldoon, "I feel like I'm freerolling after that flop now, though I did have the best hand preflop with two flush draws." (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=289&g2_serialNumber=1) RookieITB has doubled up to almost 120k through Kevin O'Leary, he bet a Q-J-4 flop with K-Q and then shoved the blank turn and Kevin, who had him on a rag Ace, made the call with 7-7. Another blank on the river and Rooks is a big stack now. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: danafish on August 11, 2007, 10:02:21 PM Oh, Well those excellent Blue Square chip counts have rather made my hunting a little redundant since you can very easily see that Burnley John's on 32k and that Mick Jones is OUT. Have to say though that when I was just down there, there appeared to be an empty seat with Andy Booth's number on it - will try to confirm whether he's still hanging in there but it does look a bit like he is also OUT.
Mick Jones also left behind his buffet ticket, and his free corporate mints too, just out of shot. Kevin O'Leary raised to 8k, Bad Girl reraised all in for about 30k and Jon called all in. Bad Girl - Ac Tc Jon Omara - pocket eights Kevin O'Leary apparently folded AJ. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 11, 2007, 10:20:08 PM Looking at the latest chip counts shows the two remaining Scandies, Jan Magnus Brevik in 4th place.
(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=305&g2_serialNumber=1) And Torstein (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=775) Iversen (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=775), who is currently in 7th. (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=307&g2_serialNumber=1) Torstein tells me of a couple of hands he had that got him from around 60k to 110k, first he raised to 7,000 utg, Brett Davies called, the flop came K-J-4 rainbow, Torstein checked, Brett bet 13k and Torstein moved all-in. Brett passes, Torstein shows a nine. Another hand he raises Ts 6s on the button and hit a Q-T-6 flop. Gotta love a scandie. :D Sunny Chatta has no doubt been wiping his cards in... (http://z.about.com/d/housekeeping/1/0/f/1/OxicleanMiracleFoamMP.JPG) He just moved all-in with 2h 3h against a button raise from Brett Davies who had Aspades Ks, and rivered the 3! The flop came queen-high, and when Myford bet, Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=420) Nash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=420) sadly called for his remaining few k because he didn't really have a choice. Myford turned over aces, and Nash was gone.

Chris Bruce has also doubled up, through Jan Magnus Brevik with Ks Td against 6h 6c on a 8s Ts Ac 9h Qs board. Alan Vinnicombe is OUT, J Marles the assassin with Ace King against Vinnicombe's Sevens. Ace third card out. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: danafish on August 11, 2007, 11:02:28 PM More chips for Bad Girl. Four at her table see a flop - 8c 5d Qh. She checks so fast it's like she's late for an appointment with the turn. It checks around to Trevor Reardon who bets 10k and then - ooh, exciting - Bad Girl makes it 30k. After a while Trevor folds. "Why d'you call let me see a flop?" says she, turning over 5s 8s and raking a fair few chips into her stack.

Much huffing, puffing, groaning. Eventually Woodley good-naturedly flips Trevor the bird, then folds. Ian had an ace, but it wasn't a very good one. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 12, 2007, 12:27:59 AM Bad Girl Xuyen Vladar is OUT in 26th place, RookieITB raised to 22.5k in late position, Bad Girl pushed on the button with A-Q for 27.5k more. Rookie made the call with the dominated Q-J, but the board came 4-9-Q-T-J to knock her out. Luckbox. ::)
Shortly afterwards Adam Stoneham knocked out Joe Grech in 25th with A-Q against Q-J, he then took out John Doyle with Aces against Ace Jack. Get ready for the tidal wave of exits people. Cheers. Paul Leckey has just been knocked out by Brian Altman, he was very short. Michael Muldoon has roughly 136k Jan Magnus Brevik just doubled up with A-J vs the A-K of Alan Vinson, four-flushing his Ad. Ian Woodley is OUT, shoved with 8d 7d, found himself dominated by the Ks 8s of Ian Herbert and has gone. Michael Muldoon has just been crippled! It folded round to Jonathon Butters on the small blind, who called Muldoon's big. Muldoon moved all in. After a bunch of really amazing and amusing wittering form Muldoon that I shall not even attempt to replicate, Butters called. Butters - Ad 6d Muldoon - 7h 7c Board - Ks 6s Jc Jd ...wait for it... 6h Ouch. Muldoon has less than 20k and is utterly desperate. Michael Muldoon lost with Ac Ts against Simon Taylor's 6h 6d Board: 3h 6c 5d 8s Aspades. And on the other table... Qd 7s 3d 3s board and Sunny Chattha moves all-in, Dave Clark eventually makes the call with 9s 9h, ahead of the 4s 4h of Chattha. An ace on the river helps neither and their are 16 left. Ian Herbert raises to 25 or 30k, but when Glenn Altham goes all in he folds, Aspades up. Altham shows AK. Meanwhile on the other table Adam Wilkinson bets 35k and Jonathon Butters asks for a count (it's about 130), but raises just 40k. Adam moves all in for 88k on top. Butters asks if he should call. Says Wilkinson, "Depends if you wanna go. It's up to you, mate." Butters eventually folds Ahrt Qs face up with a sad "Good bet" to Wilkinson. Also some excellent whimsy. Trevor Reardon raises under the gun and it folds around. The BB shows 4-5o, and Trevor shows 3-9o. This is how I managed to blow 197k in 20 mins....when the average was 120k KQ v AK blind v blind ( i raise to 30k big blind has 70k total I Cant pass and I am unlucky to be dominated) 1 round later I call a 75k all in from Jan Magnus with AK he turns over A J and manages to hit four diamonds for the nut flush...............gutted (this was reported as Trevor Reardons hand earlier but it was my bad luck) with 35k left and blinds of 4k/8k running ante 400 I am looking to for any opportunity to get my chips in first regardless of what hand i hold........... 10 2 on the button was looked up by A 9 and no help sent me out.................. Having spent the whole evening ducking and diving as a short stack It is annoying to blow a big stack so quickly but as I said no regrets................. Thanks to Chris and co who have done another top job updating........ my tip to win is Adam Wilkinson.................... Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Brian Johnson on August 12, 2007, 02:50:06 AM Great reporting, team! This is my second post...I finally got round to registering the other day (I blame this bone idleness) to throw in some DTD support. Anyway, I played on Day 1A and as reported went out on the hand just before the dinner break. My pocket 10s were no match for Steve Vladar's pocket deuces. But not sure where the story came from about me forgetting to call the bet with my pocket KKs before revealing the hand, thereby having the hand declared dead. A gripping tale...but it definitely wasn't me. Sadly, I'm the schmuck who keeps calling the all-in bets with my pocket KKs in these GUKPT events... and I've gone out of THREE of them so far by doing so. Twice losing to pocket 88s and once to pocket 10s. Stupidly, each time I did manage to get the chips in before turning the cards over!! Friggin' marvellous.
Keep up the excellent work in Luton. Wish I was still there...if not for the tournament then for that feisty £500 Pot Limit game. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 12, 2007, 02:54:17 AM Warren Wooldrige's image is in tatters after shoving with 8d 5s from the button, Simon Taylor has called for all his chips with Ac Th in the small blind.
Board: Kc Ad 5h 8c 3s Meaning Simon is out in 16th place winning £2,200. 15th to 12th get £2,500. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 12, 2007, 02:57:21 AM Incidentally the reason for Taylor suddenly being short stacked was that he doubled up Jonathon Butters previously with Nines vs Ace Jack, Butters flopping trip Jacks.

And now some Adam on Adam action. Stoneham vs Wilkinson. Stoneham re-raised Wilkinson all-in, the latter eventually making the call with Aspades Jd, Stoneham showed Kc Kd Board: 2c 2s 8c 4s 9c 13 left. (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=336&g2_serialNumber=1) Rookie just pushed against J Marles on an ace high board, after Marles called his limp/raise and then bet into him. Title: Re: Luton GUKPT: Day 2 - Interactive Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on August 12, 2007, 04:35:56 AM ty ty ty ty lol
started the day well, 43k going to 60k - but then had a couple of bluffs go wrong and reraised off a few preflop meaning i was on 30k, with an image in bits and no cards - not good! dropped down to 13k at 1500/3000 level!! Then found an unopened pot to push in with T 7, took the blinds and antes, then push next hand KJ same again, then fold UTG... then on my bb the UTG limos as does SB and i check my J9, and move in on a 8 7 5 flop, whilst sunny chattha folded a 7 to me i had more than doubled up. Two hands later and i am raising rob garfields bb with 99 and he calls and shoves on the Q 6 3 flop, i call and hold vs his 6 8. I then slow down for a while until i get the KQ hand vs Lovejoy as reported which was nice. I build and build, only one show down along the way, vs bad girl - oops unlucky! I got up to 400k at one point but then lost 90k in one pot. I raise Adam S bb to 22k and he reraises me 35k more, i am pretty certain he is trying to move on me now and shove with QJs to which he folds after a long dwell, later he tells me he had T J lolol... Sit tight (ish!) for a while, win a few lose a few more dropped down to 240k when i doubled up Adam with A2 vs KJ after K high flop. Then few hands later its 6k/12k/800 and it folds round to sb who limps for the second round on the trot, i already tell myself im raising regardless and make it 22k more with 24o. He calls pretty sharpish then bets 35k into me on a A 5 9 flop, so i shove for 150k more. TO which he takes about 3 mins to fold an ace face up! PHEW! I take a couple more pots before the end of the night to finish on 348k. ONE TIME PLS! ty for all the good lucks, much appreciated.
