Title: Re: Derek Riordan....Celtic fans Post by: celtic on August 20, 2007, 02:59:11 PM I'd actually be quite gutted to see him go.
Never really given a chance by Strachan, strange really considering the effort that was made by Celtic to sign him, however i am led to believe that he recently had a big bust up with Stephen McManus and as 'Mick' is now the captain then there was only ever going to be one result..... the exit door for Derek. Shame really cos when he joined he got rid of his mohican hair style cos he thought it would keep him out of trouble and help him concentrate on his game!!! He will do well at Leicester as long as he stays away from them dodgy bars/pubs near the ground!! Hail Hail Vince Title: Re: Derek Riordan....Celtic fans Post by: Geo the Sarge on August 20, 2007, 04:05:34 PM Good Bits:

Whilst a bit on the slim side he is a bit of a tough young lad. I know his family well and agree that a move away is what is required if nothing else to get away from some bad influences. Trouble is he may not settle down south. I for one would like to see the lad sort himself out and show everyone how good a striker he can be. Having watched him at Easter Road I believe he is one of the best natural footballers in Scotland. Good luck to him for whatever he chooses Geo Title: Re: Derek Riordan....Celtic fans Post by: GlasgowBandit on August 20, 2007, 04:59:38 PM Excellent talent but very unlucky that him and Strachan have had personal differences.
Has the potential to be a really, really good player suprised he'd go to Leicester, should be playing at a better level. Title: Re: Derek Riordan....Celtic fans Post by: Teacake on August 20, 2007, 05:37:40 PM Agree with just about everything posted above.
The boys main problem is that he needs to grow up. Undoubtedly a natural finisher but he doesn't bring very much else to the party & needs to play beside a big man (Garry O'Connor, Jan VoH) As has been mentioned he has never been given a proper run by Strachan, for whatever reason, but is very popular with a large section of the support. I think its best that he moves on, 1 mill would be a fair price. |
