Title: NLHE + NLHE + NLHE + NLHE Post by: Ironside on August 22, 2007, 08:06:45 AM give me a break from NLHE all you TDs and cardrrom supervisors please use your imagination when making up your festivals 4-7 NLHE events are getting boring
any chance of some omaha and stud games or anything other than all NLHE how hard can it be to train a dealer that already know NLHE how to deal PLO or stud ok razz and split games might need a little training but nothing too exessive surely the players must be getting sick of playing NLHE 7/52 Title: Re: NLHE + NLHE + NLHE + NLHE Post by: TheChipPrince on August 22, 2007, 11:37:22 AM Would other disciplines attract enough numbers Iron? Title: Re: NLHE + NLHE + NLHE + NLHE Post by: tikay on August 22, 2007, 02:33:27 PM I think Iron's point is that it would be quite refreshing if the Organisers showed a little creativity in their Fessie scheduling. I'm musing on going to the Aviation Club in Paris in October for what is, to be fair, called the "Hold 'Em Series", held over 9 days. It begins with a €250, followed by a €500, & climaxes with a €3,000 Main Event. In between, there is this masterpiece of Event Scheduling. Monday 1st October, 8pm, €1,000 Double Chance No Limit Hold 'Em Freezeout. Tuesday 2nd October, 8pm, €1,000 Double Chance No Limit Hold 'Em Freezeout. Wednesday 3rd October, 8pm, €1,000 Double Chance No Limit Hold 'Em Freezeout. Thursday 4th October, 8pm, €1,000 Double Chance No Limit Hold 'Em Freezeout. Vive la France! Vive la France! but if thats what sells out every time and there are no complaints from the players then why change? i understand what iron is saying but the casinos are only going to play what suits their pockets best and obviously suits the punters best as well otherwise they wouldn't continue to turn up otherwise. how many times has a casino tried something different and put on say an omaha h/l event only to have less than 3 tables worth of players turn up? Title: Re: NLHE + NLHE + NLHE + NLHE Post by: matt674 on August 22, 2007, 02:50:27 PM the GUKPT event reaches Plymouth in the not too distant future. Say for instance the TD for the week turns round and says "Ok, we're going to go for something different - on Tuesday instead of a £300 double chance freezeout we're going to run a £200 razz tourney instead":
a) how many people would turn up to play? and b) how many people would complain? my money would be on between 15-20 for a and about four times that for b............. Agree entirely. The truth is, Omaha Tourneys were destroyed by scheduling too many Rebuys, which the deep-pocket maniacs made unplayable for regular guys. That pretty much killed Omaha as a Fessie fixture. We are starting to see a few Omaha Feeezeouts now, & these are attracting better fields. The Plymouth GUKPT Fessie includes an Omaha Freeze, well done them, & I hope it'll attract a decent field. Nothing ventured..... In Europe, Baden I think, they have an Annual Stud Festival - it attracts huge fields, daily sell-outs. I think a little scheduling creativity, while bound to suffer from the odd "dud", might surprise & reward the braver organisers. Of course, if we had a Governing Body to help create a structured "season", as in most other organised, high participant volume activities, these things would all get sorted. They have in fact scheduled an Omaha Freeze, & I for one hope it's successful. Top marks - again - to the much-maligned Grosvenor/Blue Square Combo. Clearly there ARE request/complaints...Iron for one. I'm pretty sure that he's not alone Quote i understand what iron is saying but the casinos are only going to play what suits their pockets best ..... Only too true Quote ...and obviously suits the punters best as well otherwise they wouldn't continue to turn up otherwise Maybe but if casinos continue to just offer one thing, then that's what get splayed. I won't argue that HE is the most well known and popular variant but a little variety wouldn't go amiss. Surely the answer is to offer more variants at the same time. Of course casinos won't do this because they don't have the room or, initailly, the take-up. If you spread it, they will come..because no-one else is. Quote how many times has a casino tried something different and put on say an omaha h/l event only to have less than 3 tables worth of players turn up? But how much effort did they put into the event? If they suspect that they'll only get a lower number of runners then they won't publicise it much..kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. DTD, take note. Well done them. they are doing virtually the entire spectrum bar a razz tourney as they also have omaha h/l and omaha tourneys with p/l hold'em as well. will be interesting to see the turnout for the other events and see how many events appear on the schedule next year Title: Re: NLHE + NLHE + NLHE + NLHE Post by: Ironside on August 22, 2007, 05:39:16 PM i have just seen the vics schedule i am seriously thinking of getting down for the PLO8
only problem is i have only just seen the schedule and it might be a little late to get a decent flight but the vic have priced alot of people out of the PLO event by making it £1000 rebuy the £500 PLO8 double chance event is much more realistic for us small time players Title: Re: NLHE + NLHE + NLHE + NLHE Post by: AlexMartin on August 22, 2007, 05:40:09 PM I think Iron's point is that it would be quite refreshing if the Organisers showed a little creativity in their Fessie scheduling. Had some very good turnouts for it. Plus with it being on a Friday it gave everyone a break from No Limit and even a break from Poker, if anyone really wanted one. They could go on the lash in town. I was at the last lash. And I'm sure many Gents enjoyed it immensly.

I'm surprised to see the predominance of NLHE for cash, it can get bloody tedious. I'd love to see more Hellkat time-based tournaments, they add a welcome twist. And a lot of panic. |
