The final is remembered for the commentary "and smith must score", he didn't. Title: Re: memories Post by: Colchester Kev on August 22, 2007, 10:19:43 AM just looking at league 1 ... Steve Foster in bubble perm & headband, missed first game and was available for the replay ... the chant for the replay was "Stevie Foster, Stevie Foster, what a difference you have made ... what a difference you have made" Title: Re: memories Post by: Acidmouse on August 22, 2007, 10:36:17 AM It's sad esp when so many non-entity teams in the prem.
Title: Re: memories Post by: matt674 on August 22, 2007, 02:10:16 PM Go a further division down to division 4 to find:
Wimbledon Bradford who were both top flight teams up to about 7 years ago......... Title: Re: memories Post by: matt674 on August 22, 2007, 02:14:21 PM and if we extend it even further (though going back slightly longer in time) to:
Oxford United Who won the league cup about 20 years ago whilst being in the top flight of english football and now are a non-league team............ The man is tactically naive has he ever made a successful substitution Title: Re: memories Post by: Rod Paradise on August 23, 2007, 11:58:39 AM just looking at league 1 ... Title: Re: memories Post by: TheChipPrince on August 23, 2007, 07:16:36 PM Having seen Forest last saturday at Swansea they're obviously one of the better sides in League 1, very defensive though with Lennon & Clingan in midfield i'm not sure they have the creativity in midfield to hurt teams away from home... They've drawn 0-0, 0-0, 0-0 first 3 games, so the positives and negatives are obvious for them...
Havent seen Leeds since I saw there reserves in Feb, so cant comment on them, althought before the deduction they were 2nd faves to win the league (behind Forest)... Brighton will finish midtable, Luton should be in and around the playoffs with Blackwell having brought in several experienced players, including Peschisolido. Also David Edwards from Shrewsbury is a very promising C MID... Oldham have seen lots of comings and goings, theyve lost Wellens and Haining, two good players at this level, also Porter and Warne there 2 main strikers. Theyve signed Michael Ricketts from Preston who should prosper from playing week in week out, Craig Davies also will bag them 15+ goals... Will be interesting to see how much flack Lee Hughes cops from the terraces when he returns for them.. Open League though in general, not much between any teams on any given day... Title: Re: memories Post by: Acidmouse on August 23, 2007, 11:42:03 PM Leeds will gell and really challenge this season. They have what is essentially a semi decent championship squad still. I am off to forest at weekend, along with around 7k leeds fans, 4.5k in the offical away supportes end.

My earliest memories are of Leeds fans causing trouble at away matches by going in the home sections of the ground. Nothing changes I guess Title: Re: memories Post by: Acidmouse on August 24, 2007, 11:57:16 AM Fans given text 'trouble hotline'
A special text line is being set up to allow football supporters to alert stewards about any trouble at this weekend's Nottingham Forest match. The League One game on Saturday against Leeds United at the City Ground is being given the highest security category with extra police on duty. Nottingham Forest said any fan who caused trouble would be evicted. The club safety officer Alan Bexon said the text number had been set up so fans do not feel intimidated. "We thought of the idea after a lady told us that she was afraid to contact stewards about a problem in the stands," Mr Bexan said. Fans are asked to text the word 'Forest' and 60666 to alert of any trouble. You text seat details and a brief desciption of trouble, ie racist chanting throwing stuff etc and cctv locates area and if necessary police moves in to arrest trouble makers. Hopefully wont be needed tomorrow as all fans sleep thru another 0-0? :) Title: Re: memories Post by: TheChipPrince on August 24, 2007, 04:11:50 PM Leeds will gell and really challenge this season. I think will do very well to make 5th/6th, that in itself would be an achievement with the points deduction... Let me know how Jermaine Beckford gets on tommorrow, I really rate him in League 1 from watching him at Scunthorpe...
