Is running 40 miles a day detrimental to the health of an 8 year old girl?

Saves a fortune on airfares.
Physical damage is indisputable, which makes it abuse. The girl is probably cajoled into doing it, if not it's the parents' responsibility anyway to stop her doing the damage.
It's just an extreme example of the widespread phenomenon of parents pushing their kids to be extraordinary beyond reason. Can be attributed maybe to the parents being past it and trying to live out past or missed ambitions 'through' their kids. Coupled with the fact that modern culture almost worships unique or exceptional talent. Leave them kids alone!

Well, that's tantamount to plagiarism then.

Don't think this is a good thing to allow / encourage your child to do, but IMO no worse than allowing them to fill their faces with sweets and junk food, and letting them sit on their fat backsides watching TV all day.

Shocking stuff.  The Asians are renowned for their 'different' approach to child sports, have been for ages.

I'm amazed at the  other kid too, by running a distance of 65km non-stop in just seven hours and two minutes - 10kph roughly for 7 hours!  Wow, couldn't even do wouldn't want to do that for 7 minutes!

I took my daughter (4.5) for a girlie afternoon at the pub (nice family one with bouncy castle, swings etc outside) on Sunday.  We went to the bar and I asked her if she wanted a fruit shoot.  She looked straight at the barmaid and said 'beer please'  ;ashamed;

Oh - and I use poker chips at home to help her learn her maths!

You're not old enough - and I can't be seen to be promoting gambling to a minor.  Except LeKnave.

I can't wait to teach my daughter to play poker, hopefully if she starts young enough she might be better than her old man by the time she's old enough to realise that you can make some cash out of it.

You'll soon suss those gates out.  Make his life hell!  What you want to do is hurry up and learn to walk and CLIMB.  Lots of interesting stuff on tables - such as computers that you can play with...

unfortunately my laptop is safe

Alas his mother has barred him from my house as i have two cats - she claims they are unhygenic so until he learns to walk he is not allowed in my house. Personally i think its her excuse to have me go round to her house all the time to see him and so i take him out places instead, swimming is his favourite at the moment.

Question:

Phil Ivey started playing poker when he was very young and Tiger Woods was hitting golf balls at 2. How big a part did this early lead play in their eventual success?

This is how 8 year oild boys should be if they haven't got 16" guns they should be ashamed of themselves.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Sandrak

As of 2007 he stands 5 foot 1 inch. At the age of 8 he was able to bench press 180 pounds at the body weight of 70 pounds
