With the increase in field size, EPT's have now gone from being squeezed into four days to a full five-day competition. Today, we play down from the 56 players who have cashed to the final table. The feature table will be getting it's first use of the season.

There's currently around 15 minutes of the 1200/2400/300 level remaining. Play starts at 5pm (4pm UK). Join us then. :)

So, that's one previous winner (Glenne), one Scottish APAT champ (Starrs), three Pokerstars qualifiers and the superfamous Patrick Bruel, who has probably been the most filmed player at most of the EPTs I have attended.  The guy was stalked by French camera crews in Deauville last year; I swear they were following him to the bathroom and asking him questions in between every hand.  Although he might not be quite so famous outside of Europe, it would be huge news over here if he made the final table. 

Dani Stern is our first casualty, the leader of Day 1, was all-in with K-Q against the Eights of Giovanni Spadavecchia. An eight hit the flop and that was enough, a small round of applause from the rail probably no consolation.

The cards are in the air - the TV table was remarkably efficiently sent on its way, and the final seven tables are busy trying to reduce their number.

Pictured is Mohamad Kowssarie, chip leader starting today.  The stacks have been made slightly less unweildy by the addition of some nondescript brown 5k chips, but his stack is still impressive.  I personally think that as higher denom chips come into play they should become progressively more garish in colour, so the eye is caught by the dayglo orange 5k, and perhaps the neon blue 10k, while 25k chips should have spinning rims.

Most hands now at all-in pushes, it's very rare to have something played down the streets.

The only one I spotted was a hand between Adam Junglen and Nikolaus Jedlicka

Adam bet 12k on the 5c 7d Tc flop and was called by Nikolaus. The turn was a possible action creating 6c, but Junglen check/folded to the 20k bet from Jedlicka.

Finally Daniel Negreanu has entered the pressroom. He must have had twenty coffees before he came though, I've never heard a man talk so fast.

Pete Giordano is now chip leader having won a large pot from Mohamad Kowssarie, the latter is apparently the fabled 'Fast Freddy' incidentally.

Just before the break, the pot which transferred a good chunk of Mohamad Kowssarie's stack to Pete Giordano involved a board like this (which I only caught from the turn): Qh 3d 3c 7s. 
Giordano bet out 35k (in brown 5k chips) and Kowssarie on the button promptly raised it to 120k (in blue 1k chiptowers).  Pete Giordano chatted gently to himself, "Those ares stacks of thirty...countdown... We're at the next blind level..." and then moved in, a further 85,400 exactly for Kowssarie to call.  Instapass.
"You're not gonna lay down a Queen," volunteered Pete the Beat, "You're gonna lay down nothing!"  We may never know.

Dag Martin Mikkelsen (on the button) got involved with small blind Thomas Fjelleheim, betting 11,500 on a flop of 4h Qd 3d.  Fjelleheim called.
Turn:  9d  Check once more to Mikkelsen, who bet 22,500, but wasn't prepared to match the 76k total offered by Fjelleheim as he promptly check-raised all in.

Javed Abrahams just pushed preflop for 45k over the top of Martin Wendt...no call, but perilous kind of stack on that table.

Nikolaus Jedlicka takes a pretty chunky pot from Juan Maceiras, who raised the river with the board showing 7c Ts 9s Kc 5s from 35k to 80k, called by Jedlicka with a Kh Tc in his hand which saw off Maceiras' 6s 2c.  "You got it," said the Spanish player as he left himself short stacked after a very odd hand which saw a 6k flop bet and a 20k turn bet (both called) before the healthier river action.  He and Javed Abrahams have both pushed preflop a couple of times - no takers.

Juan Maceiras, having pushed all in twice preflop, does it a third time with a stack of 67,400.  A little more dwelling, but again he gets it through.

The blinds went up during all of that TVtable non-action - they are now 2,500/5,000 ante 500.  Colouring up the 100 chips.  Bear with us.

Firstly, this guy standing up, Eric Hardt, was just eliminated (incidentally, this is who I confused for Ola before, sorry) - he pushed all in preflop over the 15k preflop bet of Mohamad Kowssarie (also pictured, fortuitously).  Mohamad called with Ac Ks and was up against Jc Tc.  A King came to cement his aheadness and we were down to 32...

Then fell shortstacked Ryan Jones, small blind in his last hand.  He called all in with 7h 7c after button Michael Wong shoved first - with Ks 9s as it happened.  Big blind Kees Alblas had toyed with his Ahrt 5h before sensibly binning it - he would have won on a board which came out Jc 2c Ad Jd Kh.  Instead Wong almost doubles up at the expense of Ryan Jones.

I caught up with Michael Greco for about two minutes, which is how long it took him to get his entire 14,500 stack in - again.  "The grinder is still in!" he remarked, cheerfully, seemingly as surprised at his shortstack holding as the rest of his table.  He quickly shoved in early position, and found neighbour Mark Teltscher mini-raising to 23,500 after him (which made big blind Sylvester Geoghegan lose interest despite his prior declaration that he would likely have to "call you blind...").  Button Alessio Isaia called, and that left three of them to see the flop:

Slightly wired-looking Irishman Sylvester Geoghegan has a sudden 240k in chips - this picture is slightly out of date - a high point for the tournament so far and definitely a good stack by any standards.  He had a bit of luck getting it all in preflop with Aspades Qs (pushing after Teltscher raised to 15k, Mohamad Kowssarie called and he saw an opportunity...) and finding the original raiser with some calling Kings.  Ace on the flop, and that's 0 for 2 for Mark Teltscher's Cowboys.

Hi Chris here, my computer is not connecting to the network despite knowing it is there.

We just lost Jan Sjavik after Phillip 'Clap Your Hands Say' Yeh took him on with K-8 against A-2 in a blind on blind battle. The board coming 8-3-Q-9-J. Jen down to two picks, I still have three, mwahahahaha.

However, one of my picks, Dag Martin Mikkelsen just lost a 370k pot with Ac Ks against Sander Lylloff's Aspades Js. Dag raised from EP, Sander re-raised and Dag 3-bet him all in. The board came Td 6d 5h 6c Jd leaving Dag with just 370k.

Javed Abrahams just lost a chunk doubling up Davidi Kitai with A-Q against A-J. A jack on the flop.

Juan Maceiras is certainly not taking it easy - his chips have been yoyoing and they're right near the line, ready to jump over... a couple of his hands: 
He pushes all in from the big blind when small blind Mika Paasonen has a go when it passes round to him... he gets the chips and nonchalantly flips his 6s 8d.

Then he raises to 18k (blinds 3k/6k), called by big blind Greg Dyer (whose stack was looking a little more healthy, nearer 200k). 
Flop:  8h 3s Ad.  Dyer checks, Maceiras bets 40k; call.
Turn:  Ts  Greg Dyer immediately moves in, and Juan Maceiras just as immediately passes.

Juan Maceiras is all in the next hand, preflop, uncalled.  I worry that in the time it takes to walk across the casino to the press room and back again all the chips on the table will have gone through the Spanish player's stack in interesting ways.
