My laptop finally gave up the ghost on me this morning and is dead as a dodo.  I'm currently at my mum's for a few days so have internet access here, but don't know when/how often I'll be able to get online from Wednesday depending on how long it takes to get fixed (it's still under warranty).  I think it's safe to say that's me out of the September team challenge :(

Hope you get if fixed real soon, I too was backing out as we move AGAIN next weekend but will not now and try to get connected asap.

What's up with the laptop, can I help?

doubt it - there's no power at all.  It's been playing up for a while - occassional blue screen of death, freezing now and again.  Was working fine last night, and I closed it before going to bed, then when I opened it up this morning - kapput - nothing :(

My laptop went dead 3 months ago, after i spilt drink on it.
Sony have the worst service ever, and i have only just managed to get a new laptop yesterday.

It took them 2 months to decide whether it was repairable, then a month to sort out with insurance. Thought it was best not to get another Sony after appauling service and opted for a Toshiba, its all good so far

Thankfully, back online now, shiiip

I'll be heading back home this afternoon - going to see if I can get my old PC up and running, but if not I'll probably not be around until next week when I am back at work.  Going to take the lappy to PC World tomorrow and see what they have to say.  I'll miss you all!!!!

i had the same trouble on Sunday evening.  Was in the middle of a $10 x 45 seater and was just about to 8 letf, 7 get paid and my laptop went off completely..  Tried all sorts but it would not come back on..  Eventually, noticed that the power lead had fallen out and it had just merely run out of battery..!!

Got it back on in time to continue and come 3rd I think..

How long have you had it? When the blues screens started happening you should have returned it under warranty. Of course if it's still in warranty now, get it back there.

Try removing the battery and plugging the power lead in. Then press the power button and see if it comes to life. Also, is there a light on the AC adapter? Is there a light on the laptop when the AC adapter is plugged in (and no battery). It could be a faulty power pack. If you have a multimeter it's an easy test  ::)

i've had it about 9 months Rich.  I'll try that stuff you suggested just now.....

well - i am gobsmacked.  taking the battery out and putting the power cable in seems to have done the trick - i tried it over the last couple of days with the power cable, but with the battery in too - so I don't know if taking the battery out has made a difference?  Anyhoo, at least I have the power!  I'll get the computer back to the shop anyway, because it's still playing me up.

spoke too soon - it's powered up, but screen is black

As it's only 9 months old, you want to be taking it back to PC world. Hopefully you'll get a replacement. If it was 14 months old, I'd be dishing out more suggestions, but it's not worth it if it has been paying up a lot anyway.
