Title: Online or Live? Post by: bolt pp on September 13, 2007, 02:41:21 AM O.k, either bird flu is on the brink of wiping out the human race and knowone is allowed out of their house(we get our food from tesco who quickly monopolise the post bird flu rations delivery service market, and get ant and dec to do the voice over for the ad) or Ironside accidentally deletes the Internet whilst carrying out basic maintenance work on blonde, which couldn't you live without, live or online poker?
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: M3boy on September 13, 2007, 02:44:45 AM Live Poker - SO much better.
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: TightEnd on September 13, 2007, 02:48:58 AM Live all the way
Online gets boring v v quick, live never does. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: Bainn on September 13, 2007, 02:52:20 AM Indeed, much prefer playing live.
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: RichEO on September 13, 2007, 03:08:35 AM I prefer playing live (or rather I'm gaining a taste for it), but I'm going to be contraversial and say I couldn't live without online poker.
I play online more. It's easy to fire up a quick game. There's more choice and no travelling overheads. Also if all traces were to be wiped out retrospectively then if I had no online experience I would have no game either online or offline. It's a bit like: I prefer beer but I couldn't live without water (don't tell the duke) and you also can't make beer without water. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: Newmanseye on September 13, 2007, 03:17:34 AM Live every day of the week, and its easier to play live in my opinion.
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: ChipRich on September 13, 2007, 03:19:14 AM Live anyday
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: LeKnave on September 13, 2007, 03:19:28 AM Onlines the clear choice for me.
Don't have to get out of bed etc. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: jakally on September 13, 2007, 06:27:48 AM No brainer - Online. I play to make money. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: ChipRich on September 13, 2007, 07:24:34 AM No brainer - Online. I play to make money. Play to make money? I should probs try that at some stage ;djinn; Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: AdamM on September 13, 2007, 08:20:15 AM live live live
I'd never play another hand on line if I could play live when ever I wanted Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: Graham C on September 13, 2007, 08:36:54 AM Prefer live but can't get out to play as often, so online keeps me happy.

Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: RED-DOG on September 13, 2007, 08:56:10 AM Online for profit. Constant 24 hour action at all levels, small fees, loyalty bonuses, no additional expenses.
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: matt674 on September 13, 2007, 08:57:46 AM What Silo said.. he wasn't talking about poker though............. ;whistle; Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: TheChipPrince on September 13, 2007, 09:12:03 AM No brainer - Online. I play to make money. yep, plus my nearest Casino is 70 miles...! Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: jakally on September 13, 2007, 09:29:42 AM No brainer - Online. I play to make money. yep, plus my nearest Casino is 70 miles...! Fair point - but even if I lived next door to a card room, I would still make most of my poker time online. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: The_duke on September 13, 2007, 10:02:38 AM Don't get me wrong I do enjoy live games, but on line suits my playing style.. Chain drinking and being able to scream obscenities at the screen when my obviously superior move is wiped out by some &^%%er calling me with rags, instead of getting slowly to my feet to a round of applause and saying "Good Game & good luck all".
n.b. banned from chat on PS for a little bit at the mo due to inappropriate but accurate descriptions of some Muppet's ancestry. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: tikay on September 13, 2007, 10:05:18 AM I much prefer "Live" but I'd have to plump for"Online" because of the shambolic way UK Tournament Poker is run & "organised". I attended a Tourney a few nights back which was a total & utter farce, organisaton wise, & x hours of my life ebbed away whilst I sat & watched a display of organisational incompetenence it'd be hard to imagine. But the Tourney did eventually get started. An hour late. Self-Deal. At the Headquarters of British Poker. (Await Diary Entry). Online are so much more professional - the Rules are pretty standard, the comps always start on time, no favouritism is showed, &, glory be, players in extreme circumstances even get Banned for misdemeanours. If I lived in, say, Vegas, or Vienna, I'd say "Live" every time. Title: Re: Online or Live? Nor sure I could make a profit (or anywhere as much) playing at the levels I do in a live setting.
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: Acidmouse on September 13, 2007, 10:55:11 AM I would say Live but I think I am extremely lucky with my local casino (Moortown Leeds!) being one of the best run card rooms around with lots of Blondes going.
If it was a poorly run, badly structured and smoking I would go for online! Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: Claw75 on September 13, 2007, 10:59:51 AM As a recreational player I would have to say live - I just love live poker. I enjoy playing online for something to do, but it doesn't give me the same buzz.

Live poker is great, but you try making a living at it, day in, day out, year in, year out. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: TheChipPrince on September 13, 2007, 11:25:11 AM 'Live for show, Online for dough' Red?! Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: RED-DOG on September 13, 2007, 11:53:17 AM 'Live for show, Online for dough' Red?! No travel, food, drink or sundry expenses, and fees are so low online compaired to live. plus you can play as many games at once as you're comfortable with, at the level you prefer, any time of the day or night. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: TightEnd on September 13, 2007, 12:00:03 PM but to my mind nothing beats interacting with people when playing. Perhaps this is because I live alone and its different if you can be chatting away to family when playing on a lappie at home
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: deputydawg on September 13, 2007, 12:17:17 PM online definitely - play any type of game day or night. Live is good occasionally but too slow and not enough choice of decent games
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: RED-DOG on September 13, 2007, 12:19:44 PM but to my mind nothing beats interacting with people when playing. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: Longy on September 13, 2007, 12:26:12 PM Online but thats because i basically support myself through playing online.

Well we have been asked, and you HAVE to choose. Which one do you lose? Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: boldie on September 13, 2007, 05:24:18 PM Prefer to play live, do better in live games so that would be my choice if I had to choose..but travelexpenses would mean the practical choice has to be online. Voted live though because I'm a man and "can't make up my mind about anything"..

Agree Andrew, however it would be live for me everytime, I am absolute pisch online. mind you i only play for the recreation and friendship etc. I rarely see abuse at a live event but see it regularly online..............not for me I'm afraid. just to put a spanner in the works, why can't we have both and start putting laptops in casinos. live is great so is online but live is not always conveient. sometimes you can't get a seat because the space is limited, too expensive or far away. this way you can have your cake and eat it. ;cheerleader; Title: Re: Online or Live? Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: AlexMartin on September 15, 2007, 04:27:00 AM Live for fun, online for money.
If i had to choose id go for live, purely because i think life is for living, not sitting infront of your screen till 4am every night. Title: Re: Online or Live? Even Updaters are no longer allowed to use their Lappies in the Cardroom, we have to be "off floor" in a back-office. In Mainland Europe, Lappies are generally allowed in Venues. I've been to many-an-EPT in which there were dozens of Scandies with Lappies, all busy playing Online. It ain't ever gonna happen in the UK methinks, though maybe dt (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload)d (http://www.dtdpoker.com/aff/BlonditesDownload) will take a different view, if, that is, they are granted authority to open & operate. An oddity is that most Unlicensed Venues have lots of Computer Terminals, on which Members are encouraged to play Online Poker, & the Venue earn money via the rake, as they negotiate a favourable deal with an Online Cardroom in return for exclusivity in the Venue. Licensed Venues never allow this. Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: hans47 on September 15, 2007, 04:51:22 PM live all the time if it was as easy and simple as the internet then you wouldn't get the muppet plays so often! can pick tells live not so easy online
Title: Re: Online or Live? Post by: thetank on September 15, 2007, 10:37:37 PM Now my bacon comes from other sources, I have to pick live
