Title: Football Tournament at BB5
Post by: turny on September 13, 2007, 11:39:23 AM
As tradition dictates blonde will be holding a 6 aside football tounament on the saturday morning prior to the poker.
the tournament will be held at a cardiff football centre and will start at 11.30am and will last approx 2 hours.(more details to follow when finalised)
leaving plenty of time for players and spectators to shower and get to the casino on time.

the tournament will be made up of 4 teams all playing each other once in 18 minute matches with the team scoring the most points deemed the BB5 football champions.(more details on match rules and  formats after team participation is confirmed)

the 4 teams are initially as followed:

England southern softies   captain: inthebelly
England northern monkeys captain: chip rich
Scottish sweaty socks captain: geo the sarge
Welsh sheep shaggers.captain: king poker

squads can be made up of upto 10 players who must be blonde forum members signed up before 01/09/07 (to combat ringers)

please could i have volunteers for captaincy of each team please. as usual i will be captaining the reigning champions "southern softie" side.

anyone interested in playing please post on here stating your allegaince so you can be contacted by your team captain.

again we are hoping to have the event televised so its a good chance for some of you to show off your silky skills to the outside world.

Quite apart from the obvious discrimination against the Irish, my son broke his leg and I will be on crutches in sympathy. I will however come along to watch and support the referee (support probably being short of stopping each losing team keick his head in)

being from the north and also being a monkey it is only natural to submit my application to join the northern monkeys team.

making sure i am up and awake at 11.30am will however depend on the activities of the Friday night previous ;)

the jock team will probably be made up of irish as well as since there drumming by the english on the home turf at bb2 they seem to run scared and only 1 or 2 actual jocks actually show up. (Eck being the main exception to the rule)

be good to see you there Duke supporting the lads, its a great tournament played in a great spirit (lets forget walsall lol) and really is a good laugh.
the more supporters there the better to see dave colclough laying shattered on the floor after each match lol

The Northern Monkeys will hope to put up a better challenge to the well-oiled shandy-drinking team from the sawf.

Was excellent last year, very enjoyable and competitive without being silly.  I'm sure it'll be as good this year.

In light of the fact that this is the year of the women's world cup is there to be a team of girlies. If so I will bring a bucket and magic sponge. Post match warm down massages a speciality.

Don't know yet.  They're still down t'pit at the end of their 28-hour shifts.  When they get bcak and have their coal-butties and log on, I'll ask around.

I'd do it, but I've got enough on my plate with the quiz.

Will get back to you later.

Are you in the same kits as last year?  If you are - we'll play in white this year!

Ill let you be the ref if you can produce your qualified Referee Certificate, otherwise I will don my OFFICIAL referee hat and bring my actual yellow and red cards and do the games..

If you still wanna ref then it will have to be the 'Welsh Sheep Shaggers' team for me then along with ringer xxLOJxx will wanna play.

SIGH, is this the point where i spend every day begging inviting players to join the welsh team. Im pretty sure DC and Bongo will be up for it and with me and my mate eif that makes 8.

If any true welsh bloods wanna join then please pm me or chuck a post on this thread, we were quite "flexible" on the welsh qualification rules for BB4 in case we get desperate for numbers so anyone who has ate leeks, driven through wales, got a panchant (sp?) for woolly creatures or loves cheese on toast may also partake for the welsh team.

Roll up, Roll up!!

And whoever had tighty in their team last yr is F****d now coz he was the only thing that stopped us beating you, that mans a goal stopping machine!

EDIT- and of course the old squad from last yr will get first dibs on a place in the squad so let me know soonish if u wanna play again, i might pm u tho first so whatever, im mumbling, rambling and talking sh*t so im off! Ive had a telephone skills course today so im sick of being nice to ppl!

Oooh decisions decisions - being a midlander I could play in any number of teams.

Used to live not far from Cardiff as a kid aswell (so if the Welsh were desperate I could play for them).

Play 5-a-side quite a lot at work, not very good but I'm always up for a game if anyone wants another player.

Another bad read Geo.  i'm more left-footed than Riise - my right peg is for standing on.  If you're on my left, you're most probably the linesman.

the scottish team is normally a odd ball team due to the fact very few scots can get out of bed in the morning so boldie mr laxie and duke your all in

If this team really has been sorted, Mr. Laxie says he's happy to be the goal keeper (unless someone else wants the spot).  If not, he's still up for a team...any takers?

Through extensive research, the best sports bras for women with, shall we say, adequate breastage are the Panache ones.  Very good support, allow you to breath, and are suitable for running and other activities that require the most support.

For ladies with more modest requirements, I think there is a wider choice, as the need for serious support isn't as crucial.

looking forward to it mate.

KP has had us training in the welsh valleys for the last 3 weeks to make sure we are well prepared, I just hope he remembers to bring some subs this time.

We are quietly confident we will beat the notherners. KP has sent scouts to spy on them and according to him the girls would be harder to beat.

I would honestly welcome him with arms wide open (in a manly way) but as you can tell from the confrimed teams thread we already have a possible 11 players for a 10 man squad. Shame it wasnt last yr when we were scraping to get 6!!!

i will donate £100 toward the cost of the 10 shirts and the team pay the difference

the first option will be the cheapest

the 2nd option will be the smartest

and boys dont be stupid i am running this team as a professional outfit

we will storm this cup there will be no sexaully snide comments from the rail tyvm

Ooooooh, our very own coach comes through for us!  Well done Iron!!!

I'm liking the idea of the Blonde football shirts (with our online names on them?), but ok with anything the rest of the team decides.

I don't think anyone should fork out for footy shirts tbh.  I'm happy just to go along with wearing the same colour.  Preferably not red or it'll clash with my face once I've attempted to run more than 10 yards.

Yep, the Welsh wear red, and the Northerners will be in white.  The shandy drinkers always make a great effort - but it'll take some going to beat their Pakistan cricket tops from last year :)up

I think the girls should wear something that they all already have - so as not to put them to any extra expense - it seems a bit daft really for them to go out and buy something when they have wardrobes full of clothes they bought in the sales and have never worn.

Maybe something like this:

After all the training that KP has giiven us welsh lads(I use the term, welsh, loosely) what odds is ITB offering on us winning at bb5. ive also heard that KPs mate Eifion(hey KP how do you pronouce that) is an welsh footballing prodigy. We also have a full squad this time. I can see no stopping us.

Also what are the odds on the northerns finishing last behind the girls??

Oh and what odds is Dan Molby to win the golden boot??

Ah - but you do.  The extra weight places strain on the neck and back - and can lead to injuries there. A sports bra helps prevent that.  That's on top of the obvious reason for wearing one.

So far we have these ladies confirmed:

charlotte
ling
laxie
littlemissC
charmaine
ruthless
londonpokergirl

reserves:
mrs boldie?
mrs eck?

Goal Keeper:
RobertHM  -  Not 'officially' a lady, but our honorary goal keeper for the day after promises of group hugs each time he makes a save.

Team Leader:
Last but not least, our amazing coach for the day is the one and only...IRONSIDE!!!  Thanks for keeping us all organised!!!

Last but not least, our amazing coach for the day is the one and only...IRONSIDE!!!  Thanks for keeping us all organised!!!

Rookie will be sporting an 'interesting' kit on the day in our honour and Jim D is bringing his credit card to cover our drinks after.

So then...who else wants to join our motley crew?  Footy skills not required.  Ability to distract the lads in whatever way you see fit will do grand.  Cheers!

Girlies - since i have to do a shopping trip for this - what colour are we wearing - and also is it shorts  / tracksuit bottoms / skirts /  - it's been a while - and Rookie is being absolutely no help he just keep laughing at me...

Please Help....

PMSL

It's alright for you, the girls have already chosen your wardrobe.

lol, doh!

Quick question about that.

Do we go with the 'grandma's boulder holder support bra and matching briefs' look

or

'Pamela Anderson's been to see the surgeon again and (due to the trauma of the op) treated herself to a shopping trip in France' look

Keeping in mind it's Rookie who's wearing this gear.

Hey Rookie!!!  Now that you've had yer week-end in Dublin, I need to know what size you wear.  T shirt and pants size will do...I can guess the rest from there...ish.  lol  Wouldn't want to cause you any 'pain' by bringing something that's a bit tight fitting.  You have until tomorrow morning to let me know or you're stuck with whatever I get.   You're stuck with it anyway, so it may as well fit.  ;whistle;

Will be making some ummmmmmm (how do I put this?)....'alterations' to the top, so cup size can be as big as ya like, but C sounds good.  Don't want him knocking anyone's eyes out.
