Title: PLO8 - 2/4
Post by: NoflopsHomer on September 13, 2007, 11:37:14 PM
Standard play? Should I possibly be check/raising the flop? Should I auto-call his turn push and does the fact I have an emergency low influence this? (Ignore the fact he's limped a weak holding which only had 3 outs for the scoop).

Discussions, thoughts, ideas, criticisms all welcome.

he posted a dead blind in mid position so hes most likely an idiot, so your play is perfectly ok.

Second hand, which cost me my first buy-in.

Again, thoughts, criticisms, ways to play it better, would all be gratefully received.

first hand you got the max cant fo anything wrong getting the max
but i wouldnt count the 8 low as a low

2nd hand i would of check called or check folded depending on my read on the guy (only way i can raise/call is if i know he over plays low draws

I wouldn't have made up the blind on the 2nd hand.  IMO the only way to play PLO8 is with a full buyin to extract the max from 3/4 pots or scoops.  The only hands worth playing therefore are hands that are likely to achieve 3/4 or scoops ie low running/flushing or high paired running/flushing.

First hand is fine as you are likely ahead and have a lo draw back up.

2nd hand is not terrible, but not a situation i would like to put myself in. As it happens you have nice lo draw and flush draw back up. Unlucky to lose the whole pot. Especially seeing as there isnt many bricks in the deck
