Title: This week's Poker 425
Post by: tikay on October 19, 2005, 04:41:08 PM
Usual formula this week, with a pink-shirted Johnny Gold in the Anchorman's seat.

The Grosvenor Grand Prix at Walsall is the featured event. A few interviews mid-comp, with Rob Yong amongst others, he talks about his proposed new club.  He seems to have a piece of glitter stuck to his ear.

Most of the Finalists give decent interviews, especially Stu Fox, Chris Johnson and the winner, Pino, who has a strange sort of clipped Italian accent. Seems a nice guy.

This week's Profile is none other than Thee from Thine. Can't keep him off the damn show. Johnny Gould describes Thee from Thine as having a dodgy barber. Glad he said THAT, not me.......

as last week, they have asked me to do a Live Phone-in to "spam" the show at about 6.30 this evening, I think, during their (Channel 425) new Sports Betting programme. I gather this week's studio guest in the Sports Betting Show is a footballer, some geezer called John Hendrie? Anyione know anything about him, so I can gently poke a lil fun.....?

When I did the Live Phone in last week, the guest was a cricketer, Ronnie Arani or somebody. I confused him with Ronnie O'Sullivan, which did not go down too well. More of the same, then......Serves 'em right for employing me. Never work with animals, children or blondes, eh?

Charlie, my tetchy old cat, caused a bit of a prob last week by howlng throughout the phone-in. Hush now, she's asleep, lets hope she stays that way.

Joh  Hendrie is a Scottish International striker, now retired who playd for Middlesborough, most notably ,and Barnsley

He's a smallish cheeky chappie type.

Famous for forming a striking partnership at Boro with Bernie Slaven in the early 1990s that scored a lot of goals

Key fact: Scottish

Key fact two: they're crap at football

Bill Shankley
Bob Paisley
Alex Ferguson
Kenny Dalgleish
Graeme Souness
Alan Hansen
Gary McAlister
Ian St John
Steve Nicol

Just a smattering of great Scottish Footballing legends, most of whom won european champions medals in a team or in charge of a team predominantly made up of scotsmen. As much as I had the great corned beef ones name, I had to put it in because of the magic he worked at United in the 90's.

Remember that Scotland where a great footballing nation, and although their national team couldn't, at this moment in time, beat an egg, don't let that cloud your judgement and give respect where respect is due.

Notice I didn't put any currently playing Scottish greats on my list. Simply put, there aren't any :)

I'm English, I just like to see a fair crack of the whip given now and again ;)

John Hendrie is small and runs like a complete turnip, with his back all arched up (or he did for Leeds anyway). He nephew Lee Hendrie plays for Villa and keeps getting sent off alot.

Well I did the Live Phone-in to the TV show - a bit weird to be indoors on the phone, watching it all be relayed on to the telly. John seemed an OK guy, a Scot though. I said I wished I was Scottish, as I was crap at football & wanted to play for a National team.....

But Charlie the cat played up again, & howled non-stop during the phone-in. She's getting her own phone-in next week.
