Title: Any ideas on how to handle this scenario Post by: johnbhoy76 on September 16, 2007, 08:24:36 PM You are in an MTT
you are toatally card dead and have two calling stations to your immeadiate left. I ended up short stacked and pushed all in with 99 after one early position limper. Guy on my left insta calls for about 75% of his chips with A5!! My 9's held up so this is not a bad beat story but how do you think you should play tables like this? Or is there not really much you can do? Title: Re: Any ideas on how to handle this scenario Post by: Flea on September 16, 2007, 08:28:16 PM IMO not much else can be done other than what you did, wait for a hand and then gamble that it will hold up - or pray like hell to move tables!!.

i'd be scared of the early limper having AA as well, 85% of the time thats what theyve got and when all the money went in you were a 78% underdog but you were lucky that your 99 held up Title: Re: Any ideas on how to handle this scenario Post by: Flea on September 16, 2007, 08:37:05 PM what are you doing shoving with 99 when short in a mtt? you should fold and wait for a better hand, even if you're short you should really be waitng for qq+ i'd be scared of the early limper having AA as well, 85% of the time thats what theyve got and when all the money went in you were a 78% underdog but you were lucky that your crappy 99 held up Hmm I'd rather gamble with 99 than be blinded out and waiting for QQ or better makes this a distinct possibility, if you're down to less than 5 times big blind then it's time to push and cross your fingers!! Anyway I was just giving an example of the calls that were being made by the guy on my left. UTG limp followed by an all in and he Insta calls with A5. Don't want to be cheeky here but If I'd wanted opinions on wether I was right to move all in then I'd have stuck this on the PHA forum and not the General discussion forum. |
