Whether you believe he was guilty of the murder of Nicole Brown (I personally do) he was acquitted (although a civil suit awarded damages to the victims family). This has parallels with Al Capone -- they eventually got him on tax evasion

The sales from the book now have to be turned over to her family to try and cover the what he owes. If it becomes a best seller, they're that bit closer...even though it won't bring back their daughter. On the plus side...at least HE doesn't get the money.
