This is going to be a long post so anybody who isn't in the mood turn away now.

As you are all aware the change in the rules on the 1st September gave one the opportunity to buy into a competition and arrive late amongst other things. This coincided in Luton with the launch of the 30G promotion. Now the qualification for this promotion falls into 4 parts. Three five week qualifying periods when the top 32 will go forward to the final competition on the 16th December from each period. The final 32 will come from the people with the most points who have not qualified from the three qualifying periods. Are you all still with me? Then read on.

The life of Snat has had a little upheaval of late in that I have finally stopped working for the mad Italians and now find myself in the much calmer analytical waters of the Japanese. Now having played the semi bluff of not telling the old company where I am going in the hope of getting a months gardening leave I found myself with a couple of weeks to fill and found myself playing more poker than normal. This meant that even though I had missed the first week of the qualification I could still qualify in the first group especially as I final tabled a couple of times during this period.

Then just as suddenly I was facing a dilemma. I was going to be away in Germany for training and corporate brainwashing. I would miss playing for a further 11 days minimum. Now a normal person would just let it go and try and qualify for the third lot of qualifying when 64 of the regulars will have already qualified. It was then I decided that I was going to abuse the system. The qualification for league points is as follows. Turn up for a tournament get a point. Enter a tournament and not turn up get a point. Get to the final table get more points. As already said I had a couple of cashes so I bought into every £10 and £20 for the last two weeks of the qualifying period even though I knew I couldn't be there to win.

The impact of this decision is great and not to be underestimated. Firstly it takes one seat away from any sort of chip generation during the re-buy period. Secondly you get blinded away way too slowly. Thirdly if you are in the small blind or on the button there will be action coming through you all the time. Now imagine everybody reading this were to do the same. One could end up on a table of one and eight no shows. Also it means extra dealing and shuffling which is not to everybodies taste.

To all those who may have been on my table I unreservedly apologise. It will not happen again

To the Grosvenor group. There are things that are not correct, good or wholesome. I would ask you to consider the following for after this promotion finishes. A return to being in the building to enter a competition. You may not want to sit down straight away but at least you are there. For people who are not sat at the table for a round we go back to the days of a big blind every hand for non seated players.

I don't see a problem with this - it's the same as the Blonde/Virgin challenge. If you can't play you still register and blind out. Your money still goes in the pot but you can't win - how would other players have a problem with this?

If Grosvenor want to give points out just for turning up after 1st Sept (when you can just not turn up and still play) then I don't see the problem with abiding by the rules.

It's not as if, knowing you couldn't make it, you arranged for someone else to pretend to be you and play in your place...

You can't be serious. What about those who want to go for a smoke, or to the toilet. Or those who get a long important phone call, or feel a bit ill, or just want to sit out for a while?

They should pay 10 times more blinds than anyone else???

Phil, stop the moaning. It ain't going to change. I love the flexibility that turning up late offers me, as I can make a few more comps on nights when I am running around as Dad's taxi service til after 8pm

Why, just to stop someone like yourself taking advantage of what after all is a one off situation?

Player should have to stay in their seat at all times throughout a tournament. If they want to leave their seats to go for a wee or a smoke they have to put their hand up and ask the TD for permission to leave.

'Mr TD, sir, can I go to the toilet please?'

'I don't know, can you? Or do you mean 'May I go to the toilet?''

'May I go to the toilet please?'

'OK, but be quick. And make sure you wash your hands.'

If a player is both shortstacked and desperate to go to the loo he should first hold up his hand to signify the fact to the other players around the table

They should then raise with impunity into his BB

Players should then, whilst the shortstack is in the boys room, speed up play hugely to ensure that the shortstack once again faces being in the bb when he returns

This way we speed up competitions, put added pressure on the bladders of those foolish enough to allow their stacks to have dwindled and for added effect players should talk at all opportunities about waterfalls, car washes and the simultaneous flushing of 100 mink lined toilets

If the short-stack fails to raise his hand to signify that he is a) short stacked and b) desperate for a piss,he shalll be taken to the car park, made to cross his legs and be stoned.

I think the dress code should apply, as you are entered into a tournament.

In fact, one thing I would change about online poker is the introduction of a dress code. There are far too many people playing internet poker in all manner of disgracefully sloppy outfits - it gives online poker a bad name.

Maybe Pokerstars should lead the way and say that players will be unable to take part in their forthcoming WCOOP main event unless they are, at the very least, wearing a shirt and proper trousers. Extra chips should be awarded for those in formal eveningwear.

It was not intended as a moan purely a reflection on feedback to me from those players who were stuck on my table when I was not there. You can still enter late and get a seat. By the way for the third session of qualifying I think maybe 10 points will get you in so if anybody should be inclined just buy in for the £10 rebuys during the period........total cost £130........First round losers on the 16th December win £50 and you will get a shot at £10k maybe. Of course it may be more than 10 points but 2 cashes would get you there.

I play in Luton because I love it with all its foibles and will continue to do so

They dont put stacks out, they find u a seat when u arrive, well thats what happened to me on sunday, only took 5 mins!

I would estimate that a LOT LESS than 10 points will qualify you in the last qualifying round.

May even be as little as 5 points.

I mean, do you know of more than 96 regulars at Luton ?!?!?

Qualification REALLY is TOO easy, I only played 7 events at Luton and qualified, ok so I final tabled in 4 of them, but from memory 16 points got you in the first round of qualification. I dont know how many events they hold in a week, but it must be around the 12 mark.

I got in on 3 comps a week and 21 points

I gave up trying (and losing money) to qualify in round 1. Round 3 for me :)

We put out your stack if you register prior to the start of the tournament, else how can you be blinded away? If you arrive late then you will be allocated a seat upon arrival, aye. Late registration is different to being registered but absent.

Not on this occasion sir. I pre-registered 2 days before, arrived after the comp had started and there was no stack put out for me. Have advised Nina at Luton of potential probs this could cause and she has said she will address it.

Vince - I think they just thought they'd save time - after all you wouldn't have the stack for long in any case so why put it out?  :dontask:  Just seems like good time management to me....

You should never admit to be good at picking out lipsticks if you're a man......but thanks for your help -it was good advice!  Poker players are not just for card playing.......

er did i type lipstick? i meant poker advice. always get those 2 confused.
