Title: Poker Week Post by: Indestructable on September 24, 2007, 08:45:44 AM If you haven't seen it already, a very good show this week. With interviews with Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth. Bad news on the poker front from Doyle is that when you reach 50 it is downhill from there. I haven't even got up the hill to be able to go down it yet, so 6 years left to get there. :D
Also an interview with WSOPE winner Annette Obrestad. Not sure why but prior to the interview I thought I would dislike her. Maybe down to such big internet wins at such a young age and to have a bracelet already. But having seen the interview she was such a nice sweet girl that I have completely changed my view. I also have to add what a superb English vocabulary she has. Good show. I presume it is on Sky poker at 8.30 tonight if anyone has missed it. Title: Re: Poker Week Post by: Dingdell on September 24, 2007, 11:05:40 AM I really like poker week - probably the best poker show on tv - but I am disliking the special effects - very distracting - and although naturally Tikay suits being shot in sepia (matching his age) it doesn't work for the younger players....
I agree though - good show and Annette was lovely - I thought she would be as mean as her table image. Title: Re: Poker Week Post by: wormster on September 24, 2007, 11:38:18 AM glad you're liking the show (although maybe not the effects - just a way to jazz up the pics) Poker Week is first broadcast on Sky Sports on Thursdays (time & channel can change, but it's usally between 11:30pm & 12:30am on Sky Sports Xtra) with further repeats during the night & the next day - time & channel change, so check listings.
After the first showing on Sky Sports, Sky Poker (Channel 846) take the programme & show it 3 times a day for a week, at 3pm, 8:30pm & 12:30am - so still plenty of time to catch this week's show. I think Tikay's interviews with Brunson & Hellmuth were excellent, especially the Hellmuth one. And I agree with the Annette comments, she really was a sweetheart & agreed at very short notice to join Compo & Tikay on the balcony (as we were setting up, I spotted her leaning against the railings in Leicester Square). She squeezed us in before being picked up by the BBC for another interview. Thanks for watching & keep the comments coming, good or bad!! We need cutaways to help edit the interviews & putting an effect on them is just a way of making them look different. As I said, I'm happy to see comments about the show from everyone - it's good feedback & gives me an idea if things are working or not. The sounds behind the Helmuth interview were annoying as hell. yes - we weren't given a quiet room to do the interviews in & the guys making the noise were totally oblivious to us & didn't co-operate when we asked them to be quiet (they were setting up for that afternoon's H.O.R.S.E tournament). shame about the noise but I think it we got a great interview out of Phil.
