Title: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: dan on September 24, 2007, 04:54:59 PM I have seen quite a few comments on here (from Spurs fans) saying we have no money because of the new stadium and they decided to name it "cashburden grove". Seems like Spurs sre wrong again
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/7009944.stm We are now the 2nd richest club in the world with a £200.8m turnover a year with only RealMadrid making more than us at £202m. Spurs are only £127m behind us and even further behind on the pitch lol. Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: The Baron on September 24, 2007, 05:50:42 PM I'm sure Nemesis was joking when he took the piss. I'm sure I've heard him say on here you guys would be the highest earners from gate receipts in the new stadium.
I cant wait for ours to be built now. We wont be able to charge London prices but it should still help us immensely too. In the end, it's going to make for great competition in our league! No more monopoly or duopolies! Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: 77dave on September 24, 2007, 05:56:18 PM Hats off to Arsenal I think the arsenal board and david dein deserve a good pat on the back.
Remember the £200m is turnover not profit. Profit thought i believe are a staggering 250% up and the club is taking £3m on match days On top of that the stadium looks amazing almost as good as the football that is being played on the pitch right now The stadium is so good that they even hosted X-factor auditions there lol With the new Anfield on the way and the pictures i have seen today for the upgrades at Barcelona things are looking good for football Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: Karabiner on September 25, 2007, 12:05:21 AM Lucky Arsenal. You sir have no shame with no less than three gooners in your fantasy team ;smackedbottom; Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: johnbhoy76 on September 25, 2007, 05:48:30 PM I think it just shows how badly Spurs have been run and how well Arsenal have been run.
If you go back say 10-15 years You have two clubs in the same area of the country Similar fanbase, Simillar stadiums, Similar squad of players, Similar turnover, Similar history etc... Now look at them! Arsenal in anyones criteria are one of the biggest clubs in the world now, whilst Spurs are just another West Ham, Fulham, Charlton etc.... All of this has come about in a relatively short period of time Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: boldie on September 25, 2007, 08:56:13 PM Read a funny article today (either BBC or Yahoo sports) in which the Arsenal board said that Arsene didn't spend all of the transfer money this time and so "We have 70 million£ in cash and if he (Arsene) wants that it is his"
lmao and you hear Chelsea supporters gasp about 100mill Grant seems to be getting to bring Ronaldhino and Kaka to Stamford bridge..Arsene isn't spending a penny and his team actually plays beautiful football. Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: Jim-D on September 25, 2007, 09:06:45 PM Thats because Arsene is differant gravy!
(now going to throw up after admitting that) :) Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ Post by: Graham C on September 26, 2007, 12:09:16 AM 60,000 turned up for the game against Newcastle - how cool is that! Last year we put our second 11 in the Carling Cup all the way through, this year, they are the first 11 so we field another 11 for the Cup this year and we beat a full strength Newcastle 2-0 and 60,000 people turned up.

Making the tickets 10 quid and getting a full house is definately the way to go, even if it does generate less income. The Arsenal second 11 (which isn't exactly a brand new team from nowhere is it? looked prety similar to the finalists last year - with the addition of the loan signings that returned, I thought) Don't get me wrong - that Arsenal team has more ability than Newcastle's - but it wasnt a full strength Newcastle team and we had only played 48 hours earlier and travelled the country. ;) Title: Re: Cashburden Grove........ The Arsenal second 11 (which isn't exactly a brand new team from nowhere is it? looked prety similar to the finalists last year - with the addition of the loan signings that returned, I thought) the difference is that our 11 are recognisable because of last years campaign - not one player on show would get in our strongest starting line up. The fact is they now have the experience of last years campaign Don't get me wrong - that Arsenal team has more ability than Newcastle's - but it wasnt a full strength Newcastle team and we had only played 48 hours earlier and travelled the country. ;) |
