Answers on a postcard pls. Its a fairly good standard of play with not many limped pots and reraising a- plenty, foe is quite TAG - as much as you can be 3- way . I have been super TAG for the last 2/3 of the tourney after playing like a donkey for the first 45 mins.

Yep, you are definitely beat here. The action suggests your oppo has 4-5 and hit his straight on the turn or 8-9 and made it on the river. I think a set is unlikely because your oppo would have played it a bit quicker due to the dangerous board and the all-in on the end would be a crazy move where he is only called by a better hand.

Although you may have been ahead on the flop your hand is vulnerable because the board is rife with draws so I don't think pot-building at this stage was a good idea.

Of course he could have a busted flush draw and if so the question he asks is a good one. Hence why slow-playing or pot-building with a hand that is far from the nuts is not desirable....you have pot-built into a situation where you can't make the call.

You should have got a lot more in the pot though. The minimum raise just gives any sort of drawing hand justification to stick around.

In this situation (playing short handed) and with that flop I am prepared to go bust with my top two pair if he's flopped a set then so be it.

I am re-raising to about 2500 on the flop and if he goes all in I am calling, if he re-raises then I am going all in.

I am not putting this hand down on the flop and I am not letting him see the trun card on the cheap either.

What everyone else said. You've priced in a drawing hand and should have played it stronger on the flop.

You're beaten by the straight (or, possibly, a set, though unlikely) or beating a busted flush draw. 2-1 you're beaten and I don't think you can call to find out.

There are a lot of hands youre losing to, he could well have had A9 hearts and was betting the flop to buy the turn cheaply, no way you can call and expect to be ahead.
