A few players have been getting antsy in their pantsy during these early stages, but with good reason. The first exit of the day was a bone-crunching set over set confrontation and the trend has continued, Christopher Convery being bashed down to the felt by the foreboding bracelet winning paw of Jeff Lisandro, the Italian dominating with 8-8 v 7-7 on a T-8-7 Flop. Ouch!

News of an early bath im afraid for Harry Demetriou (ABS NO RELATION WHATSOEVER).

He took a hit the very first hand, losing about 3,500 with AK and Harry, not one for sitting tight and waiting for cards turned into a raise machine.  Unfortunately, a few reraises later and Harry says "I was fed up of getting pushed around, so I had a rush of blood"

With only 3,600 left he raised it up with K10 only for Jonas Molander to put him all in with a more exciting AK.  Harry called and was then retelling me the sorry story from the rail, he wasi in fine spirits tho and just called his exit "self inflicted stupidity"

"Katja Thater scares me," confesses media mogul Mad Harper here in the pressroom.

Well, if she makes her way up here, we'll certainly have reason to be hiding underneath our tables as she's just been eliminated, finding A-J on an A-A-4 Flop but running into an A-4 and failing to hit one of her three outs.

Whilst getting entertained by Harry we had a dejected Jeff Burke join in the conversation.  Sorry to a huge part of Wales but he is out:

Jeff raised it to 325 from middle position with  9d 9h and was called in 1 spot.  The flop came

 Qs Qd 4h

Jeff bet 525 and was just called again.  The turn was

 5d  check, check  River

 9c

Needless to say all the chips went in cos mateboy had called Jeff's preflop raise with   Qc  9s

OUCHIE.  He was laughing and smiling away tho, shame more people weren't as bubbly as Jeff.  Thankfully I managed to snap him precomp with his first namesake Jeff Kimber;

Hector Fuentes -- 26,500
Daniel Margas -- 13,800
Luis Sevilla -- 17,225
Sebastian Saffari -- 7,450
Andrew Dwyer -- 9,600

If Swedish pro Chris Bjorin (5,200) had moved to Ireland instead of London, they would have snapped him up in a second, so I'm going to adopt Mr Bjorin as a UK player, which is something that I can no longer do to his neighbour, Donnacha O'Dea (4,250), the former Olympic swimmer having cemented his status as an Irish legend a long long time ago.

Meanwhile, my attention is diverted towards another British player, last year's Champ and eye-popping sex-kitten Vicky Coren. She's not fairing quite so well just yet, her stack being knocked down to 6.3k after being re-raised off a 5h 9c 7c 4s board. She quickly turned to tablemate and long time buddy Barny Boatman to discuss the hand, but he's still wearing a constant smile from accumulating a nice chunky 21,675 stack.

Andrew Dwyer a Paddy Power qualify hasnt come here to make up the numbers, he is tangling in a lot of pots especially with Mark Teltscher on his table it aint pretty.  I walked by just as Teltscher pushed his remaing 3,000 or so in the middle against Dwyer.  The board was

  8s Jd  3d  3c

Whilst Dwyer was in the think tank, Teltsher didnt seem to have a care in the world, even found the time to chuck a wink in my direction hehe.  Maybe Dwyer took read into that somehow but anyway he made the call leaving himslef only 3k back with  Kd Jh

Mark nonchelently turns over his ladies  Qs Qd  and recieves the pot after a nothing turn.

Dwyer down to 3,000
Teltscher a healthier 9,600

Scott Fischman, who has followed in the pie-eating footsteps of his former crew member Dutch Boyd, has just doubled up courtesy of young Aussi Mark Vos.

The catherine wheel imploded on the turn of a Qc Qs 7d 9s board, Joshua Tyler betting 2k, Fischman making it 4.2k and Vos unhesitatingly sticking in another raise to 7k. Whilst Tyler quickly folded Fischman wasn't so keen to release his hand, and understandably so as he shoved in his remaining chips and revealed a menacing pair of Nines.

Sensing his fate as Fischman called quicker than a jet-propelled Linford Christie, Vos dejectedly flipped over his Qh Th and begrudgingly passed over the surplus chips on the 8d River.

Thanks Jen.

I got news from Luca Pagano about his neighbour Mick McCool's very early exit in the first 30 mins. Although I jested about these 2 earlier, McCool's exit would have had me crying and booting toilet doors (no, I have never done that, honest!!)

There was a raise and 3 callers, one of them being McCool with  4c 5c.  The flop brought a glorious

 Ac   6d  8c

Mateboy holding  8d 8h bet half the pot and McCool called.  The turn was the glorry  7h and at the this point all the chips went in.  Mateboy trips obviously had outs but the 4th 8 on the river for quads must have sickened McCool and he was gone gone.

Ben (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=483) Johnson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=483) has raced out of this comp... raced in the sense of gone crashing out rather than coinflipping, which he was far from doing as his Sevens failed to hit against pretend Englishman Nicolas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) Levi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675)'s dominating Kings.

-----------

Whilst John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1073) Tabatabai (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1073) is yet to repeat his WSOPE form with 8,800, Donnacha (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=530) O'Dea (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=530) is either multi-tabling the cash games or actually out of the comp - I'd go with the latter.

------------

Johnny (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=606) Lodden (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=606) has just clashed with a fellow Norwegian, Henning (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=575) Granstad (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=575), know to some as Granismo, calling a river bet on a 4h 2s Tc 4c 4s and being shown 4d 3c by Mr bad_ip.

Meanwhile, I managed to grab a few choice chip counts. I'll plow through the crowd more thoroughly on my next outing:

Daniel Mangas -- 7,100
Christopher Andler -- 13,050
Paul Christofferson -- 11,950
Macus Friman -- 8,125
Raymi Sanchez thorn -- 6,000
Niklas Svensson -- 11,900
Jon Lundberg -- 9,300
Raul Mestre -- 6,300

I'm afraid we've lost sight of Saffari, players seem to be moving around like a swarm of frantic bees.

A Couple of exits, Vicky Coren found her self a bit short and pushed with AJ but was met with AK and left stage right.

Also Luca Pagano pushed his shortish stack with AK but nastilly walked into AA, no miracles for Luca sadly  >:(

Pascal Perrault  26,500
Jeff Lisandro  22,000
Martin Wendt   3,200
Marc Goodwin   36,200
Liam Flood  9,600
Mark Voss  33,500

Michael Greco  24,000
Jani Sointula  4,000
Brandon Schaefer  9,500
Jeff Kimber  12,600  (says he has turned into Julian, been down to 5k upto 22k a couple of times)

RAIL REPORT

As the field thins, the barman is becoming less and less cheery as he is sent running frantically back and forth across the bar to cater for all the grumpy departures that want to drown their sorrows. One of those players is the Geordie Rocket Man himself, Paul Gourlay, who after folding A-9 to a raise and a re-raise (both had Big Slick) only to find the Flop come A--9-x, angrily (or so he'd have them think) chucked in his last 2.8k to a 900 raise with Pocket Tens. Mateyboy called the extra 1.9k and showed Q-J, which subsequently hit to send Gourlay hurtling towards the bar in search of a pint of Newcastle Brown Ale.

Henning Granstad is another name that can be added to the increasingly overcrowded rail. He needs to butter one side of his coin, because after losing two coinflips with A-Q vs. J-J and J-J vs. Schaefer's A-Q, the Norwegian master is now watching from the sidelines.

"I'm starting to get sick of poker," he cried. "Right, where are the cash tables?"

I'm saddened to report that Brandon Schaeffer is out, saddened merely because he one of the most amicable players on the circuit. But my bias aside, his assassin has plenty of fans of his own, Johnny (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=606) Lodden (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=606)'s J-T v the American's T-T on a J-Q-9 Flop enough to see the Nowegian forming a familiar site - a big stack early doors.

---------------------

Don't you just hate it when you wait and wait and wait for a hand, only to be dealt Kings and find some other cretin has it as well? Well, that's just what happened to Rayan Nathan, his Pocket Cowboys failing to fluke a flush against Niklas' Svensson pair.

Marc Goodwin, who must be due a biggie after various cashes around the globe, was just seen skipping UP the stairs 3 at a time.  The players had just re-started with out him, so I took my opportunity to shout "CHIPS?"

"About 50K NOW!"

Level 5 just kicked off with 100 players
150 / 300   25 ante

Honoury Frenchman and former Gutshot Series of Poker winner Arnaud (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1011) Mattern (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1011) has just taken a big hit, his stack demolished quicker than Brittney Spears pop career. Virtually all-in on a 2s Th 9d 7h board with 8c 7c, Arnaud's opponent briskly called with Jh Ts and survived the raggy River to knock his foe down to just 2.5k.

Dave Colclough has just sent Dario Minieri to the rail.  Action was seen after the board had arrived with 2 aces on it.  The cards in front of Dave was  Ad Ks and the marvelous   Jd 3d were infront of the pint sized Minieri.  Dave scratches head and stacks.

He may have come 2nd in Barcelona, but Snapper Mark (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=263) Teltscher (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=263) is a goooooona here on more local shores, his swan song seeing his Tc 7h on an all club flop in all sorts of trouble against Qc Qd. No running miracle cards and the Londoner who once triumphed in this event a few years ago is forced to exit stage left.

------------

Osman Mustanoglu:

"I went out with A-Q, it was the best hand I'd had all day. I only had about 3k, so when I was re-raised all-in I had to call, but he had A-K. I hit my Queen, but he runner runnered a straight."

The Osmanator, who reminds me of the Terminator when he speaks in his broad Turkish accent, is now trying his luck at the cash tables.

Dave C again has hit the heady heights of the top with more than a fleeting appearance from the lady luck herself.

Blinds are now 200/ 400 with a 50 ante. In the cut off DC raises to 4,100, the BB smooth calls and we see a flop:

 2c 8c 8d

BB checks and Dave bets 5,500 not before checking how many matey had left. Well matey had 5,400 ontop of the 5.5k and pushed all in.  Slight pain appeared on Dave's face but make the call he did with  9c  9s.  Matey showed  Ahrt Ad.  The next 2 cards:

 Kc
 3c

A few "ooohs" from the rail and Dave is left to sheepishly pile up mateys chips.  With 55,000 now he must be chip daddy or there abouts.

I'm afraid I have just learned that Irishman Andrew Dwyer exited just prior to the 30 minute dinner break. You can normally tell when an Irishman is pushing up the poker daises as he'll be propping up the bar just moments later. I did ask him what happened, but my Irish isn't up to scratch so the details are a bit fuzzy. I did make out a clash with Mark (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=263) Teltscher (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=263) though with K-J vs. Q-Q on a Jack high flop that took the majority of his chips.

------------

Possible chip leader at the moment is Swede Ola Brandborn, his stack now rising to the dizzy heights of 75.5k and inducing a smile longer than a row of Cheshire Cats. His latest confrontation didn't reveal any hands, but after re-raising his opponent from 2.5k to 10k on a Tc 7h Js 3s board before betting 12k on the 4s River was enough to increase his stack to chip-lead threatening proportions.

No mess power play poker from Nicolas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) Levi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) who almost encouraged his Swedish foe to fold the same hand, Jon Lundberg's pre-flop re-raise to 3k being followed by a huge all-in of circa 40k from Levi. With a very playable 20k left, Lundberg was faced with a tricky decision with A-K, but he made the correct move, calling and chop chopping after a uneventful J-J-9-5-T board.

------------

As Jeff Kimber was slumped into an armchair in the bar and entangled in a conversation with Trevor Reardon, I quickly inquired with Iwan Jones as to the route of Jaffacake's exit. Although the "Ran A-K into Aces" response seemed simple enough, Jeff was keen to tell a fuller story and quickly beckoned me back.

"The big hand was with Jeff Roger," reported the Barcelona. "Half of my stack went to him when I called his raise from the big blind with A-J. I check-raised him on an A-K-2 Flop, only for him to push in for just a few thousand more. I called and he showed A-9, only to hit a 9 on the River."

Jonas Molander has been mullered.  One of the chip leaders Ola Brandborn, who has in previous times been a writer for various poker magazines, is transitioning into poker playing stardom.  He raised to 1,500 in middle position to find Jonas on the BB going all in for 13,250.  It didnt take Brandborn too long to call the extra 12k with JQ suited!!  Molander was holding AK and a flopped Q was enough to send Jonas Molander OUT in the last level.

One time big chipper Paul Christofferson has handed the baton over to long-haired-orange-jumper-wearing Spaniard Daniel Magnas, the chips flying in on 5s Jd 6s Flop, with the Swede praying that his 5h 5c holds up against Daniel's Aspades 4s flush draw. A Qs Turn was pretty clinical, especially when Daniel avoided a paired board on the Ks River.

As a result, Daniel Magnus is now fighting it out for the chip lead with a rather tickety boo 70 to 75k in chips. Hopefully he'll go deep and purchase a new jumper with his winnings.  ;hide; ;hide; ;hide;

2 minutes before the end of the night, Devilfish & Chris Moneymaker clash.

A random mateyboy raises to 1,600, round to Devilfish who reraises another 6k, he has about 13k behind.  Upto Moneymaker who gestures ALL IN.  Original raiser gets out the way and Devilfish makes the all in call.

Fish      Jh Js
Moneymaker   Ac Ahrt

No surprises on the board and Devilfish is Aced.  Leaves Moneymaker with about 75k.

One player to suffer from lasthandexititus was Johnny Lodden, the shortstacked Norwegian pushing in his remaining 4,350 with Aspades Js and relieved to find himself racing against 4h 4c.

A 4d 8c Kd 6c 3s board was pretty conclusive.

The current chip leader according to our source is the hatpimp himself, Nicolas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) Levi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675).

After spending much of the day hovering around the 40k mark following a blistering start, Levi rose to 55k before winning a 100k pot with a paltry 9-7 off suit.

"This aggressive player raised to 1.7k and I made it 5k because I was getting sick of him raising. He called, but the flop came 9h 7h 5c. I thought he could easily have a hand that will push over the top, so I bet out and he did indeed move all-in for 40k. I called and he showed Ahrt Jh for the flush draw. When an Ad hit the Turn, my testicles sank into my body and I just prayed for something small and something black. The river was a 6c. Pheeeeeeew"

------------

The final report I prised from the players as the trickled towards Edgware Road in search of a black cap was courtesy of Arnaud Mattern, the Frenchman now living in the UK semi-pleased to have recovered from just 2.5k but simultaneously disappointed to have risen to 25k but drop back down to 11k.

Still, from just 2.5k, it's hard to complain, Arnuad making commencing his comeback with Aces versus Nines after nabbing the blinds uncontested a few times.

Right at the end of the night, Dave Colclough was involved in a hand that can be described as Karma correcting itself.  Dave raises to 1.8k and is called in 2 spots one being Age Spets.  Flop

 Ahrt Js 4c

Dave & mateboy check but Spets makes it 5k, mateboy goes all in for 15.5k.  Dave C called and Spets folded.  Mateboy had  Aspades  9s, Dave had  Ac Jd.  U know whats next?  Runner runner spade for a flush and a 45k pot.

Dave Colclough finished the night on 39,000.
